I wouldn't say it sucks but I agree with you a tad. I barely go out to eat Italian food and generally find 'expensive' Italian food places aren't worth the cost compared to other cuisines. To me, it's pretty boring and basic and I feel that with practice, I could make a lot of it at home. Just doesn't seem like a type of food worth paying restaurant prices for.
I only like cold marinara and that’s just to dip breadsticks in. All other aspects of italian food are a no for me. and I obviously hate cheese but Parmesan is especially vile
hates cheese, hates pasta. I just imagine all Mick eats is like mutton, bread, and potatoes like a 18th century central european peasant or something. that is all his palette can handle.
You don't know what the smell of it is because you've only ever eaten the garbage variety. I'm convinced you ate a can of Chef Boyardee and condemned the entire cuisine. It would be like eating Taco Bell and declaring that all Mexican food is bad.
I'm not saying I've not had good Italian food, I just don't rank it highly as far as places I'm willing to splurge on. The fanciest Italian meal I've ever had pales in comparison to the best Indian / Mexican / Steakhouse / Sushi place etc. that I've been to.
I’ve gone to nice Italian restaurants. I’ve eaten home cooked meals. The basis of the food is not for me.
See you’re wrong there too. The best Mexican is the tiny hole in the wall place or a little food cart. Not some over priced BS.
I love Mexican, i love indian, but my grandma's baked ziti with sunday gravy and homemade meatballs is still the best meal i have ever eaten in my life. I have tried to recreate it on my own and only got a smidge close and was still better than most things i usually eat. you have not had italian food until you have had it prepared by an italian nana.
That’s fine, but declaring that it sucks is not the same as saying you don’t like or appreciate it. The basis is just as valid as any other even if you don’t care for it. The skill of the chefs, quality of ingredients, and care for the food is on par with any cuisine, which is why it’s renowned all over the world.
i am lucky enough to live across directly the street from one of these. One of those Mexican spots where at 12PM on a tuesday it'll be completely full with Mexican dudes getting lunch on their breaks. It also has a tiny mexican grocery section attached to it. That is how you know it is legit. Best burritos i have ever had in my entire life. I open my door in the morning and the first thing i smell is the chorizo and carne asade in the air. It's amazing.
