I always fully peel bananas. Im not trying to be surprised with a big brown spot on the bottom half. No sir, no thank you. Also if your bananas are slimy pick better bananas idk what else to tell you.

 

I mean...peel it to the point that you're eating? You'll see a brown spot before you take a bite unless you're biting through the peel

in theory this works but I've had plenty where the skin/peel doesn't show any signs of some damage underneath until you get there. I'd rather just know whats in store for me. Im super picky about bad spots on bananas for some reason.

I also don't eat the very bottom part because it has weirded me out since I was a kid.

 

are you saying you wont eat any of a banana if it has one brown spot on it? You can just eat around it

oh no Im not that wasteful haha, I'll just like cut that part off or eat around like you said but it still bums me out I didnt get to have the whole thing. Shelf life/ripeness is another convo but I generally prefer them with a little bit of green left on the ends. Fully yellow is fine but when they get brown spotting all over the skin it might as well be rotten at that point.

 

Brown spots mean a banana is ripe, not rotten!!

 

Yeah I think I've heard that brown spots are just spots that have processed into sugar

 

I hate too ripe bananas because of how crazy sweet they get even more than the texture.
