Oh no I missed the breakfast discussion. I have a protein drink for breakfast on my way to work and usually a piece of fruit or yogurt or something a few hours later as a breakfast part 2. But if I'm going out for breakfast which is rare cause I'm not a morning person, it's a sweet breakfast all the way. Donuts are great too. Portland has a good donut scene. I'm not gonna stand in a long line for them but I'm a fan of eating them. Conchas are the superior sweet breakfast baked good
Cabbage, asparagus, broccoli and cauliflower are my go to veggies but the only one I ever steam is cabbage. Roasting and seasoning your veggies goes a loooong way! Salt is very important here too, sometimes I even cheat a little with a pinch of MSG.
Also on breakfast, I drink a whey shake in 16 oz of homemade cold brew in a blender bottle nearly every day. Only time I'll do real food for breakfast is if we go out on a saturday or sunday and its usually something like steak & eggs, breakfast burrito or huevos rancheros for me. As much as I love a well made french toast I can never justify all that sugar in the morning and it has me dragging ass the rest of the day.
I don't think I could definitively say that anything is the best vegetable. There's too many I enjoy, and my opinion would flip flop every time I ate a vegetable that I wasn't thinking of at the time that I named something else as the best. Asparagus is a good one though, as it goes with everything and is just good cooked simple and on it's own, like it doesn't have to be incorporated into the recipe. Chicken/Fish/Steak/Pork chop, whatever. Just throw some asparagus on the side.
