Cheese on pie is not a crazy thing and makes complete sense. Cheddar and jam are great together too. I will regularly include jam in charcuterie boards to balance the salty meats and a sharp cheeses.

I like salty and sweet, but I don't like mixing cheese with sweet stuff unless it's cream cheese. The cheese and caramel combo I see sometimes is super weird to me, personally.

American contains cheddar cheese. Its just a combo of cheddar/colby or similar with emulsifiers.

 

You're right about those instances but in the case of cheddar/american i disagree. American is just toned down cheddar that melts better. Thats just how I see it but thats ok if you dont.

 

Cheddar and American aren’t that far off. Hating American cheese is a lame/lazy opinion. Nothing better on a burger than American cheese.

Sharp cheddar and apples are a top tier snack, but still haven't tried the cheese on pie thing.
