There’s a local place that has incredible steak subs but if you forget to ask for no mayo you’re getting half the jar on it and it’s fucked. I like mayo just fine but yeah, not on something hot
I haven’t had anything else from there but it’s the best steak hoagie I’ve ever had, might need to get one this weekend
Cheesesteak. Chicken cheesesteak. BLT. Hamburger. Chopped beef. Hot turkey. Roast beef. Sausage and peppers. Roast pork. Grilled cheese. Hot ham and cheese. Fried fish. Crabcake. Any breakfast sandwich. Any of these are good with mayo or mayo with with another condiment.
As said earlier in this thread mayo on cheesesteak is disgusting. For grilled cheese mayo is great as a cooking oil, not a condiment. Also mayo on a breakfast sandwich? What the absolute fuck?
Also as an Italian American mayo on sausage and peppers is the 2nd most white bread Anglo ass shit I have ever heard (behind the video I saw once of people putting ranch in their spaghetti)
I like you and I like mayo, but dude, what is going on here lol BLT, burgers, and roast beef/turkey (cold) I agree with. You can't have a proper BLT without mayo. Fish & crab cake sandwiches, yeah, but that's more like tartare sauce or mayo as a base. The rest all have their own sauce on them already? Roast pork has the jus. Sausage and peppers get tomato sauce. Hot turkey has gravy. Hot ham and cheese requires mustard. etc. You don't need mayo on those.
Sometimes when I have leftover wings, I'll throw them all in one container and shake it a little to get a mix and match. It's usually something pretty standard though, like buffalo and dry ranch
