I’ve been told by family (but I don’t remember myself) that I once had beans as a small child, something was wrong with them and they made me VERY sick I legit won’t eat them. Wont even consider it.
You don’t see me avoiding chili cheese Fritos and I barfed a whole bag of those back in the day. Life is too short to be afraid
Not even, although I wouldn't say I'm vehemently against either of them. I'm a picky eater and it's usually a texture thing if that makes sense
As someone finally over a Thursday food poisoning, I'm not sure when that will be for me for anything excessively garlickly. I had some garlic fries and a burger, and got food poisoning and it was rough. I think I want the garlic to be hidden in my meals for a while but I do hope one day to be best buds again.
if it was fresh beans, that's a legit concern and probably something wrong with the prep vs the beans themselves. Apparently kidney beans (and others?) are pretty toxic naturally, so if not properly handled (soaked) and cooked, they'll fuck you up. I always buy canned beans for that reason as I'm scared I'll leave 1 bean out of the pot al dente and poison myself. A very rational fear I'm sure....
I get not having the same type of bean and preparation that made you sick. I got sick off of lentils once and really don't eat them, but there are a thousand different kind of beans and ways to make them that are so different. I got sick from bacon and blue cheese potato salad and that combo still turns my stomach.
I honestly never really thought about there being people out there who don't like (any) beans my eyes are open
