Even AG doesn’t like Nesting Dolls. He said it was one of his lowest points recording a song. It’s good, but c’mon the title track is fuego.

 

I don't know why but I thought liking the title track was controversial, glad to see that's not the case, I've always loved it.

 

Descensus and Nesting Dolls just isn't a fair fight, they both have such different purposes on the album. I love them both but ND is just that bit more special for me.

Really surprised that Phantom is getting such traction, that track has never clicked for me. One of the dullest songs in their discog.

 

Descensus is bland and way too long. Nesting Dolls is bliss mate.

 

My hot take: Both songs are incredible.

If people want to shit on ND for being way outside their wheelhouse, that's fine... they just can't push the bigger snoozefest called Flesh and Bone next album that everyone bizarrely loved.

This first round is ridiculous. First three tracks are definitely the weakest.. if any of those three win I might actually get upset.

Child of the Desert is easily one of their best songs and Schema is a killer opener.

 

The ending of Desert is great, but Schema is my least fav opener of theirs.

 

I love everything about Schema. That abrasive opening. The interplay of the bass, guitar, and vocals during the verse. The lyrics setting the tone for the album. The transition to Child of the Desert. Blasting it right now in my car while waiting for my dog at the vet.

 

Nice. I'll admit the interplay is tight, but it is a bit abrasive for me. Still good, but once Only The Sun hits then the album really starts to take off

 

What is weak about Schema that track rips I stand by it. Every member is on point.

 

Schema, like most songs on this record, is like a minute too long haha. Every time I hear that last chorus I feel like the song should’ve ended instead

 

the drum beat in the verses always made me laugh
