It's definitely up there. This a perfect time to be re-listening to this stuff for this bracket. Circa hits hardest in early fall IMO
That little moment of weightlessness before the second chorus kicks in is one of the best bits of the album to me.
I don't remember the last time I listened to this with good headphones on, but man, each guitar is doing something drastically different almost the whole time and they are panned to each side. Kind of dizzying.
i remember thinking, when i first heard juturna, that i had never EVR heard anything like the guitar playing on this album.
Listening to On Letting Go now.. It's been awhile since I've listened with some good headphones. Easily one of my favorite records ever. I'm excited for this because I'm not even sure I listened to the 3 records that came after BSN.. and I still consider them one of my favorite bands.
I forget how trippy House of Leaves gets at the end. Anyway, here we go. 1) The Great Golden Baby 2) In Fear And Faith 3) Wish Resign (seriously? come on.) 4) The Glorious Nosebleed
Always Getting What You Want In Fear And Faith We're All Thieves The Glorious Nosebleed swear I can feel the wind outside when this album comes on
Current Totals: Always Getting What You Want - 3 The Great Golden Baby - 23 In Fear And Faith - 14 Stop The Fuckin' Car - 12 We're All Thieves - 14 Wish Resign - 12 The Glorious Nosebleed - 19 House Of Leaves - 7
Seeing Wish Resign losing in the update earlier was exactly what prompted me to post in the Amulet thread to get your ass in here lol
I don't remember Wish Resign standing out in particular back when I first got into the record, but to this day, that chorus will pop into my head and get stuck... even when I haven't listened to it for months. One of the most memorable vocal lines in their catalog and the clear winner of the matchup.
God those drums in the Stop The Car verses are just something else, especially with that buzzing guitar in the right ear
