No way I'd be able to narrow it down completely, but to the best of my memory, these are the records I've been obsessed with at certain points since I've been alive. This is in order from my toddlerdom until now. The Monkees- Greatest Hits The Big Chill Soundtrack (I made my mom play 'Joy to the World' by Three Dog Night in the car way too many times.) LL Cool J- Whatever one had 'Mama Said Knock You Out' on it. Jock Rock Green Day- Dookie/Insomniac (got em at the same time) Oasis- (What's the Story) Morning Glory Goo Goo Dolls- Superstar Carwash Everclear- So Much For The Afterglow Blink 182- Dude Ranch Eve 6- Horrorscope Blink 182- Enema Weezer- Green Jimmy Eat World- Bleed American Saves the Day- Stay What You Are Jimmy Eat World- Futures Neutral Milk Hotel- In The Aeroplane... Bright Eyes- I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning The Forecast- Late Night Conversations This is getting out of hand. Gonna cut it off at '05.
lol I love Eve 6. Seen them 3 times and met guitarist Jon Siebels at a show in 2012 (he was in the crowd near me during Our Lady Peace's set at a show they played together with The Gaslight Anthem and The Offspring, three other favorite bands of mine)
no order The Antlers - Familiars Brand New - Deja Entendu Brand New - TDAG Circle takes the square - as the roots undo la dispute - somewhere at the bottom of the river between vega and altair la dispute - wildlife forgive durden - wonderland joyce manor - never hungover again manchester orchestra - mean everything to nothing mewithoutYou - brother, sister modest mouse - the lonesome crowded west modest mouse - building nothing out of something small black - s/t the strokes - is this it
Interesting line up. Was this a radio show? And yeah I still love Eve 6. It's a drag they get lumped in with the 90's one hit wonder crowd, but whatever. It's All In Your Head was excellent as well.
I'm the opposite. Some great songs, some dumb songs, but all together it just works. I don't usually like long albums, but this and All Things Must Pass really work for me in that sense.
In no specific order, my top 13: The Academy Is - Almost Here Fall Out Boy – Take This To Your Grave Valencia – We All Need a Reason to Believe Motion City Soundtrack – Commit This to Memory Justin Timberlake – FutureSex/LoveSounds Smallpools – LoveTap! Mayday Parade – A Lesson in Romantics Ariana Grande – Yours Truly Emarosa – Versus Every Time I Die – Gutter Phenomenon G-Eazy - These Things Happen Pierce The Veil – Selfish Machines You Me At Six – Cavalier Youth
*I Was Trying, and yeah, not that that record isn't amazing in its own right. It's still my favorite record in the sense that it was a perfect snapshot of my life circa 2010-2015. It's just that GOTGH really captures the music I appreciate and what I'm going through now in my early 20s, if that makes sense
I like All Things Must Pass better, actually. I think that's the best solo album any of the Beatles ever made. Harrison was underrated.
Lost in the Sound of Separation - Underoath Come, Now Sleep - As Cities Burn Worship & Tribute - Glassjaw Run the Jewels - Run the Jewels Relationship of Command - At the Drive-In
I'm reaching this sort of transition phase where I'm finally able to deem more recent albums (like, within the last 5 or so years) as favorites, and they've begin to supplant some old ones. Stuff like The Hotelier, The 1975, Jason Isbell, etc. But as far as long-standing favorites: Jimmy Eat World - Futures Counting Crows - August and Everything After Tom Petty - Wildflowers Wallflowers - Bringing Down the Horse Brand New - Devil and God Augustana - Can't Love Can't Hurt Whiskeytown - Stranger's Almanac Third Eye Blind - S/T Jack's Mannequin - Everything In Transit The Killers - Sam's Town
beyond the first, there is no order, and i did not limit it to one per band so i included all my fav albums by my fav bands. this is gonna be a huge, never completed list thursday - a city by the light divided thursday - no devolucion brand new - the devil and god are raging inside me brand new - daisy the national - high violet the national - alligator the national - boxer the national - trouble will find me radiohead - in rainbows radiohead - kid a radiohead - hail to the thief tim hecker - ravdeath, 1972 tim hecker - an imaginary country tim hecker - harmony in ultraviolet tame impala - currents tame impala - lonerism converge - jane doe converge - all we love we leave behind rustie - glass swords pianos become the teeth - keep you pianos become the teeth - the lack long after foxing - dealer nicolas jaar - space is only noise oneohtrix point never - replica oneohtrix point never - garden of delete isis - oceanic isis - panopticon isis - wavering radiant isis - celestial isis - in the absence of truth oceana - clean head pallbearer - foundations of burden robyn - body talk deafheaven - sunbather deafheaven - new bermuda kanye west - college dropout kanye west - late registration kanye west - graduation kanye west - 808s and heartbreak kanye west - my beautiful dark twisted fantasy kanye west - yeezus kanye west - the life of pablo burial - untrue burial - street halo burial - kindred burial - truant/rough sleeper burial - rival dealer woods of desolation - torn beyond reason wolves in the throne room - celestial lineage wolves in the throne room - two hunters blut aus nord - 777 (all three in the trilogy) jimmy eat world - clarity jimmy eat world - bleed American jimmy eat world - futures andy stott - luxury problems sleep - dopesmoker birds in row - personal war bon iver - bon iver, bon iver bon iver - for emma forever ago james blake - james blake arrange - their bodies in a fog an autumn for crippled children - try not to destroy everything you love an autumn for crippled children - the long goodbye pyramids - a northern meadow bayside - sirens and condolences bayside - bayside baroness - red baroness - blue baroness - yellow and green baroness - purple holy other - held lil ugly mane - mista thug isolation sepalcure - sepalcure machinedrum - room(s) machinedrum - vapor city bosse-de-nage - iii bosse-de-nage - all fours circa survive - on letting go circa survive - blue sky noise mew - and the glass handed kites mew - frengers mew - no more stories told gucci mane - mr zone 6 gucci mane - jewelry selection gucci mane - burrprint 3d lil wayne - tha carter ii lil wayne - tha carter iii lil wayne - da drought 3 jay z - reasonable doubt jay z - the blueprint jay z - the black album danny brown - xxx danny brown - old future - 56 nights future - monster future - ds2 lana del rey - born to die mastodon - remission mastodon - crack the skye mastodon - leviathan mastodon - blood mountain mew - and the glass handed kites mew - frengers mew - no more stories told honestly i could keep going and going and going and going and be completely truthful that these are my favorite albums of all time. i love so much music. so much of it has touched and me and each of these records means something incredibly special and deep to me and there are many many many more i simply dont have the time to list that mean the same. music is great and i plan to fall in love with as much of it as i can while im on this earth. peace.
@Craig Manning Have you listened to Ghosts of the Great Highway, Old Ramon or any Red House Painters?
