yeah, there's a couple tracks here with questionable mixing for sure Scoliosis is maybe the worst of them all tho
big disagree I like this quite a bit, but would rank it fairly low amongst his discography personally
I feel like these are his most consistently personal lyrics... ever? Even a song like "Insure My Wrist" kind of goes in during the first verse. This is the most I've liked a full project of his since JEFFERY / Slime Season 3 / I'm Up. If he chopped most of the back half (keep "Faces", "Droppin Jewels" and maybe "Hate The Game") and reordered it to 11-12 songs it'd be near the top of his discog for me.
He has said he didn’t, I think his process just changed and he took a longer time to flesh out songs. Based on the Complex interview and the Breakfast Club interview. Really good interviews btw. Complex one is a great reqd and he goes in depth and opens up about a ton of shit over the years on The Breakfast Club. He even has a few lines on this album about not physically writing anything.
The best songs on here are just so so so good. fifth day dead faces contagious die slow love you more insure my wrist droppin jewels peepin out the window stupid/asking road rage hate the game day before like good god these are some of his best songs period
I'd say top tier Thug projects are Jeffery and BTG, and then this one is the next tier down along with Barter 6. The best of this album is among his best material ever but there's quite a few songs I wouldn't mind losing Hate the Game has serious hit potential and the Mac verse on Day Before was really great and refreshing to hear. Apparently it's one of the final things he ever recorded, just days before his passing (hence the title)
According to Thug, the song with Mac was called Day Before prior to his passing. The vibe was described by Thug as being like, yeah I’m poppin now even if the day before I wasn’t. Kinda like “it happened overnight”. Mac recording that song the “day before” his passing was purely coincidental. Pretty crazy.
