Young Jesus - Welcome To Conceptual Beach (August 14, 2020; Saddle Creek) Album • Page 2

  1. it's more mellow on the whole than the last one I would say

I don't remember every part of the last two long songs rn but I don't remember it getting as intense as, say "Feeling." but it's a lot to take in and I'm on 1.5 listens so I might be wrong. "Meditations"builds to an (incredible) shouty moment but it doesn't rock per se

I feel like they rarely do that for smaller bands now, I was shocked when Knot got one the other day but I really don't expect it anymore. That's why we have Stereogum

Dead serious the only band I can think of off the top of my head that I would take over them as Best Indie Rock Band is Big Thief.

There are obviously staple veteran acts....but when we are talking about early-mid prime and/or up and coming who else is there? Maybe it’s the whiskey talking! Maybe it’s just the potential of those 2 bands that specifically excites me. Feels like we are still just scrapping the surface. Glad I grabbed the purple/white variant!

Objectively speaking the top indie rock acts going are Los campesinos , Strange Ranger, Young Jesus and Big Thief

I would really like to see what Club Night does in their next LP as well (but I like your list a lot).

Parts of it kind of remind me of Okkervil River.

I wish I could say something but silence is fine.

Never heard this band before but this first single has a serious Dry The River vibe.

  18. yes exactly my thoughts! it's not what I would have asked for but thinking back it makes perfect sense considering how beautiful songs like "Under" were (not that this album is really acoustic-centered but you know what I mean). things here are less knotty than Whole Thing and more meditative, thoughtful (yes, they can get more thoughtful), flowing. it really pays off

Didn't realize there was a thread for them on here. I'm in love with "The Whole Thing....".. Gulf is one of the coolest songs I've ever heard. Excited for this.
