you me and everyone we know presents “Something Heavy” due out September 17th!

HEY! The band will be releasing its long awaited, first album in a decade titled “Something Heavy” in partnership with Know Hope Records on September 17th. Watch the band’s first music video for the title track “Something Heavy” featuring Erik from Proper. and PRE-ORDER THE ALBUM and a bunch of pre-order exclusive merchandise designed by Nick Ferran and Mikaela Jane PalermoHERE. Something Heavy is also on streaming services everywhere HERE

There are gatekeepers in the music industry that do not want you to hear this record. The idea that you are existentially essential and the reality that you are Enough as you are in each moment is too dangerous to the warm blanket of catharsis and consumerism they have wrapped around this wide genre, fashioned from the commodification and romanticizing of our mental health issues and search for belonging.

So, we’re going to need YOUR HELP in burning those gates down.

    New Song? MAKE A TIKTOK.
    Got a playlist? ADD IT.
    New Video? RETWEET IT.

We have so much more power in this world when we work together and with your help, this band’s music can help others like it has hopefully helped you! Something Heavy is also streaming everywhere HERE.

    -Ben Liebsch

p.s. The album art was inspired by a piece from Adam Juresko, re-interpreted into an analogue collage by Dan Zdilla, and then passed onto Nick Ferran who completed the layout and design of the album artwork.

The album was engineered and mixed by Jon Smith and Ben Roth at The Kaleidoscope in Lancaster, PA and it was mastered by Ryan Schwabe

In for this. Both new songs are very good. Also like Still Basically a God so happy that is on the album.

Wish I had lyrics for the new song. Was hoping they would be under the new video on youtube.

So stoked, but sucks Proper is on a track.

Really, really stoked for everyone to hear this. I've had the album for a couple months now and it is truly something else. It's currently my AOTY and will likely remain that way unless something unexpected (like a My Chem album) comes out.

    I got you!

    9. something heavy / Thought i'd fade into the haze of adulthood / Maybe build some nice shelves and die / But convulsing here on the bathroom floor / I've become hubris personified / Stuck in the “it gets worse” part of getting better / Without the satisfaction of pacific shedder / Is this growth or more “controlled rot”? / Decades of pressure, the wound still wont clot / Suffice to say i'm still on my way / It’s like there’s something heavy here / That pulls me down / Looming large inside of me / Aching to crown / I tend to prattle on / And my legs do shake / But when that rattle's gone / I carry the weight / I don’t want to be famous i wanna help / And figure out how crying on vacation / can build wealth / We are moderately influential warlords / We are cosmic royalty / drape our heavenly bodies in purple / and Let it all unfold lawfully / Suffice to say i'm probably here to stay / a barnacle on your brain stem, no tide could ever pull me away / It’s like there’s something heavy here / That pulls me down / Looming large inside of me / Aching to crown / I tend to prattle on / And my legs do shake / But when that rattles gone / I carry the weight / To feel whole / I would give up all these gifts / That’s not true / Starting over’s just another grift / We’ve seen it get dark / But there were always nights / We could still see the stars / We've been hurling through space / We have run long enough / It’s time that we gave chase / We’ve seen it get dark / But there were always nights we could / Still see the stars / There’s Something Heavy here / But i carry the weight

Is someone in that band problematic?

  8. So fucking excited about this!

Yes. I actually was really into them, and was happy to have a black/queer band in the scene. I think it was a month ago a tour was announced with Tiny Moving Parts/Belmont. Whom both have allegations against them. Instead of listening to fans who had concerns for Proper being on tour they became extremely aggressive on Twitter, and basically told people to fuck off. They kept doubling down. They have since talked to the survivor of the TMP allegations, and dropped off the tour. Though a lot of people(including myself) were rubbed the wrong way.

Yeah they did the right thing in the end so I'm not mad about them being on this song but I'm personally good on ever hearing from that band again.

It’s weird that people are dogging on another band when Ben Liebsch is a huge piece of shit too.

    How so?

Eh he was extremely self destructive, and atoned a great deal. Yes there’s some other very bad stuff he did to the former band mates in terms of compensation from what I remember. Though tbh it was so long ago now I can’t remember the outcome. Does anyone have a breakdown?

I remember him talking about that and how he pretty much had a huge drinking problem, but like...at what point is someone allowed to change, ya know?

I’ve heard first hand accounts of his actions but a quick wiki search sums it up.

I’m pretty sure he admitted to having a serious porn addiction as well.

The podcast linked above is definitely worth a listen to get an idea of Ben's history. I don't really think it's fair for Auggie to decide if Ben had a drinking problem or not. Ben will be the first person to admit to his own shitty behavior in the past. But it's worth taking into account the immense amount of growth he's done since then – he's been sober for over a decade, and to my knowledge (I have a personal relationship with him), has attempted to make peace with all victims of his behavior.

Yeah that’s kinda weird for someone to say somebody else doesn’t have a addiction.
