so excited, ben sounds great and the song rules

 

I still blast "I can get back up now" and "The next 20 minutes" "Colorful Language" and "Happy Birthday" all the time.

 

The Next 20 Minutes is such a cool song

 

His ability to write songs and make it seem so effortless is truly amazing.

Hope this is the start of a comeback for him.

 

I know. He hits some fuckin' highhhh notes on that one. Live, too.

 

What a great song. I don’t LOVE Dogged but it’s still a great EP. I do love “Does It Amaze Thee?” Though.

It’s a shame that the some things don’t wash out lineup imploded. There was so much potential in the Ben / Rico partnership.

 

Brooks Was Here gets spun constantly in my house. Loving this song, excited for new music.

Something that strikes me is how well this more intimate song shows off Bens sharp, off-kilter songwriting. I know it was kinda the cliche thing to compare YMAEWK to Say Anything but Ben really does hail from that same school of pessimistic, humorous, no filter lyricism much like Bemis. Like that last part about abandoning cars and hoping your privileged enough to make it to mars because he “hasn’t ruled out meteors yet” is really funny and extremely nihilistic. Even that weird tempo change where he starts like speak-singing.

I guess what I’m trying to say is I think Ben is an extremely underrated lyricist and songwriter and I hope there’s more to come

YMAEWK was what I thought SA would be after IARB and quickly became one of my favourite bands. Agree that he is severely underrated in lyrical form and songwriting ability. I'll be glad to see them back in some aspect.

Weatherbox and YM&EWK both did what I wish SA did post s/t. Though I stopped caring cuz both those bands put out some great music whereas SA just got more, and more tame til their last effort imo.

Hell yes. Always down for what Ben is doing, he's owned up to his shitty behavior even before he put this band to bed. YMAEWK was one of the first bands I got my wife (then-girlfriend) hooked on, so she'll be stoked for this too.

 

I’ve been listening to a lot of YMAEWK lately, I genuinely don’t think they have a bad release. Love the ending of the new song

 

The great thing about this band is that their entire studio discography is barely over 2 hours, makes it very easy to run though haha

As someone who turned 30 this week the Dogged EP is hitting me in a totally new way, haven't listened to it in years.

 

I think A Great Big Hole might be my fav, but I Wish More People Gave a Shit and the album are very close behind
