Greenwood is definitely one of the best tracks on here, overall I like the kinds of songs that sound more similar to their older work (Canary, Like Myself) the most, the direction they went in with some of the other songs isn't really my style but I could see them growing on me once I get used to it
that's a really surprising thing to hear, actually. might have to revisit, been a while since it's not my go to for them
Jammed GU,D on Sat. Then listened to KDWYD for the first time yesterday. Someone said there was a Northstar reference on that album? I only listened once, but didn't catch it.
I love when you watch something like that and it just makes you love the record more.. it brings my understanding of what they were going for to a higher level and probably pushed the album into my top 10
It was interesting to know that a lot of the lyrical themes he kind of had to turn a little outward. That writer's block sounds super severe
Finally listening to this and damn. It's much better than I was expecting. Huge progression from KDWYD, which I liked just fine.
You Blew It is really good at making records that grow on me but pioneer of nothing onward have been so immediate for me
I absolutely adore this album. I wasn't really feeling it at first, but after the fourth listen I'm really on board.
This album is pure creativity. I loved their previous album but abendrot just does it for me. I couldn't even tell you why.
By definition they are, but it's nice listening to something where you know the musicians physically made the sounds you hear. Nothing against sampling, my band has some sampled drum sounds on our ep that lean more heavily towards the sampled side than what we recorded. But in a world where all of the drums and guitars are procsssed through computers and changed around its refreshing to hear a record that doesn't use those tools and is more stripped down.
then you shouldn't have said "real" instruments, that makes it sound real rockist. "raw sounding" or "organic" would be better than making it sound like you're looking down at all of these
