feel like you might hate it, it has a lot of great moments but overall it feels like Sheridan biting off a little more than he can chew. Don't know how much of that is due to co-writers and whatnot
Yeah sometimes the drama is waaayyy over the top/far from reality, but if you can allow yourself to accept it, the show overall is a pretty fun watch. Landscapes throughout the show are beautiful too. I've discovered some great music through this show as well
honestly i like pretty much everything sheridan has worked on so far. so at the very least I'm willing to give it a few episodes.
Wind River is one of the absolute best movies I have seen in years, and I don't think I've met a single other person in real life who has even seen it. I've made my dad, my wife, my brother and my office-mate Frank all watch it.
Wind River is great; only saw it once so far, but I felt it was very well done. Drove through the Wind River reservation last summer as well on my way to Grand Teton National Park
it’s good but probably the worst of the films he’s been involved with those who wish me dead could be alright
I think it's easily the best thing he's been involved with. The way the Jon Bernthal flashback scene shows how a seemingly normal situation can get completely out of control before you even realize it. I loved how when the boyfriend was finally shown he wasn't really who or what you were expecting, yet his actions still lead to the two of them being frozen corpses in the snow shortly thereafter. I think he was obviously the toughest MFer on that crew, yet he was completely failing to realize how dangerous that situation really was and how he wasn't going to be able to punch his way out of it and protect her. The scenes with Hawkeye and Gil Birmingham discussing their shared unimaginable grief show a subtlety and a restraint that is almost the polar opposite of the soapy pulpy cheese Yellowstone is loaded with. (And Yellowstone is entertaining AF, don't get me wrong.) I love how it doesn't feel the need to actually go there with Scarlet Witch and Hawkeye in a cheesy way like most films would and have them kiss or anything stupid and forced like that.
sicario is one of the best films last decade. it’ll probably end up being the best thing anyone involved except maybe brolin and benicio end up doing
I suppose I'll have to watch Sicario again. I watched it once and thought it was really great, but I've never felt the need to revisit it. I've watched Hell or High Water twice and I think I've watched Wind River four times now.
The way other people talk about Sicario is basically how I felt about Wind River. I'm gonna try to watch Sicario again tonight after work though.
Okay, you guys were right about Sicario. It's fucking incredible. One of the best movies in years, easily. There was so much I didn't remember about it. I had forgotten huge chunks of the movie. I pretty much only remembered the caravan drive through Juarez, Brand Walsh sleeping on a private jet, and the tunnel sequence that starts off as the sun is setting. I didn't even remember that Daniel Kaluuya was even in it at all. Straight up fucking masterpiece. I still think Wind River is much better than anyone seems to give it credit for though. It's my solid #2 Taylor Sheridan thing.
I don't even know how to describe what makes the film so good; I guess it's just the perfect pacing, the haunting music, the locations it's shot in, the acting, the dialogue, character development, etc.; Just superb all around. That one shot (I think it's at the beginning?) where you just see the road fly by, before the camera rotates upwards to slowly show the black SUV driving down the road - so dope. Think I need to give Wind River another shot though
