1923 renewed for a 2nd season https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/t...cb95ba466b94b8eee6995e3e72502e2a62b11944257f1
Why can’t they just end it after this 2nd half season? Give the ranch land back to the local tribe and be done with it? That would tie up everything perfectly, allowing them to go out on a high. I would be down for a MM western show though, haha
Agreed, this show has run out of ideas at this point (actually, a while ago). They’ve been spinning their wheels for two seasons now. Just take it to the end and put the effort into the spin-offs which will still make billions of dollars lol. The quality is already on the decline so it will be even more disappointing if they can’t end things properly because major actors have to bow out.
Yeah both 1883 and 1923 are a step up in quality, so might as well shift focus to spinoffs to keep the universe growing
I’ve said this multiple times now but I still think he got ambitious with the spin-offs and wanted to save Yellowstone’s ending until they can all culminate into one big finale. But of course, that means Yellowstone had to stall long enough for them all to get there which could explain why nothing has seemed to progress for a while now. I also just think it takes some steam out of the prequels if you reveal the “ending” of the Dutton ranch and all of these prequels show how the family is fighting to hang on to it…
I haven’t watched any of the prequel shows but obviously we know they keep the ranch so I don’t think that takes the steam out of anything.
I’m not sure what you mean. I’m saying I think they’ve wanted to prolong Yellowstone until however many years worth of prequels run their course (even if they have no good ideas left). This Costner “news” is irrelevant to that point.
I mean, 1883 explicitly says they will give the land back to the Natives in seven generations (aka Tate Dutton) so…something needs to happen.
i don’t know about that. Everyone knows what happens in GOT…they still made a prequel that everyone loved ( until they changed the actors)
I guess I should have explicitly stated this point from the beginning: I suspect they are unraveling part of a mystery or "reveal" with the prequels that connects with the overarching story of the ranch that will conclude with Yellowstone. 1883 revealed that the Duttons will have to eventually "return" the land after seven generations (with that seventh generation presumably being Tate Dutton). 1923 seems to be building to a mystery regarding the Dutton family tree that could play a key role in Yellowstone's plot. That's why I think all of these shows are pieces of a larger puzzle that are all building towards one grand finale. Of course, I could be completely wrong and this is simply an anthology series with no grander plan (totally possible knowing this show). Then in that case, I would agree with you - do as many prequels as you want.
