I don't care if you spoil me do Tate and Carter become friends in season 5? I feel like they need to be friends.
One minor thing I appreciate about this show: attention to detail in makeup. Like Beth will consistently have visible wounds for an entire season from an attack or something that happened in the previous season that I otherwise would have totally forgotten about. Not a lot of shows will do that. A character will get beaten to an inch of their life and as soon as they move onto the next arc they won't have a scratch on them.
lol you can really tell that the praise of this show and the bigger budget in season 5 really got to Sheridan's head with all these constant obnoxious "epic" sweeping drone shots.
Yep, I think with the increased budget he got he probably contracted out a couple more helicopters to get those sweeping shots. But Montana is a pretty beautiful place, so I'm totally ok with this, haha
Two episodes into season 5 and already can tell this is going to be my least favorite season. Not enough cool western shit, and too much stuff that feels like almost like a bizarro world West Wing.
It actually ends up having quite a bit of western/ranching life shown, where the story kind of just stops and they show us the actors just doing ranching things for a bit, which is actually quite nice
Surprisingly, I haven't seen really anyone mention this, but I thought the CGI in the first episode 1923 was not good lol. They have all of these beautiful landscape shots mixed with (what looks like) low-budget CGI. One shot that was noticeably out of place was when the leopard is in the tree after having just killed that woman (and her body falls to the ground) - it looks like a cutscene out of a video game from 20 years ago. Same with the first time they showed the Native school - it looked like they used a drone shot of the landscape (or maybe that was artificial as well) but clearly placed the buildings, people and animals with some awful looking CGI. The buildings already look pretty out of place, but if you watch the people, they're moving like NPCs in a game.
I like how every episode for 4 seasons is like "Rip is just a big dumb fuck that doesn't know anything other than horses and fighting" and randomly in season 5 he's just like "this reminds me of Emperor Nero playing the fiddle as Rome burned" lol
Yeah I am getting season 5 of The Wire levels of "we completely lost the plot because most of the best people in our writers room got assigned to other projects"
Yeah so I'm at the point in my binge where I'm like "I actually agree with every point that new big bad who is hooking up with Jamie is making"
Also I do not understand why nobody who wants to take down the Duttons just reports them for their blatant very illegal labor violations. Jamie could just be like " oh hey btw most of my dad's cowboys are under the table indentured quasi-slaves. Maybe we should let the DoL know"
I think it's a case of "mutually assured destruction", as in Beth could release photos of Jamie dumping that guy at the train station as well
It's just a given that "getting caught" isn't really a thing people are worried about in this universe. haha. Everyone who has an association with the Duttons eventually goes "missing", and no one looks into and no investigation ever really happens. Not only do dozens of people die on the ranch (including a Livestock Commissioner and Reservation Policeman in the first episode), but also four real estate tycoons (who are publicly feuding with John), two neighboring ranchers, one journalist who is doing a hit piece on the family, etc. all mysteriously die or vanish... Not to mention the fact that John was caught in a shoot out at the same time Kayce was ambushed and Beth's office was blown up and it didn't raise any suspicions about what they were up to.
All caught up now with everything in the Yellowstone-verse. I must be one of the few people watching are that solidly on Team Jamie lol. He is 100% right about the ranch, the cattle industry, and Montana. I know that he is probably being played by his mysterious girlfriend but still.
