okay, finally caught up. still enjoying this season just as much as i did the last two. so, adult Shauna's going crazy, and as such, Melanie Lynskey's fucking killing it. Ella Purnell's always a welcome sight, even if it's only in dream sequences now haha. I do miss Juliette Lewis and Simone Kessell tho
I finally watched last week’s and felt a little underwhelmed by the Melissa reveal. I had a feeling like most did that Swank would be playing a grown up Melissa, but the reveal itself felt like it should have come at the very end of the previous episode rather than the start of this one. I had also hoped (and maybe this could still happen given that I do think Shauna actually is being stalked and they’re now trying to convince us it’s just all in her head to throw us off) that we would have been led to believe that Melissa died out in the woods by showing her “death”. It would have allowed us to set her name aside as a suspect, only to then reveal, much later, that Melissa’s body was found by someone else who nursed her back to health. That person wouldn’t know who she was and, wanting to start a new life without having to tell people she survived by eating her friends, she took on a new identity. So the Yellowjackets would have never known she actually survived. And maybe they could still do something like that with another character, I don’t know. Crystal’s body was never found. Obviously she could have been buried by the snow or animals took her, but maybe not! It’s pulpy and ridiculous, but so is the show. I think I just had the Swank reveal as adult Melissa built up in my head after all the teasing about somebody stalking Shauna so to see them just sort of casually reveal “hey, you’re still alive, well anyway” kind of let me down.
Ending was wild how many of the survivors in the present are they gonna kill off before the final season? lol. We are at 4 now.
I mean, as long as they keep alive some of the red shirts that have been getting some speaking lines this season, they COULD get introduced as adults down the road. Id they can introduce Melissa in S3 who's to say we don't get another one S4.
I know this show has been compared to Lost it's entire run but this season especially giving me Lost vibes.
Oh most definitely. I bet we are 100% going full steam ahead in the "inspired by Lost" train for the rest of the series.
Man this one was a tough watch. Getting to see so much of Liv Hewson and Lauren Ambrose together was a treat
Someone on tiktok pointed out that last episode, Hilary Swank would look straight down the barrel a few times during her scenes. One was after the “I live a boring life” line. Interesting way to tip off the audience
Definitely feel like this show is back on track the last couple weeks. Actually invested in the present day shit
oh shit does this drop at midnight? idk how showtime does things, i never had it how many episodes left this season or is that it?
I’m so here for a duplicitous Melissa, but man I’m going to miss Lauren Ambrose on this show. RIP Van
At least for these past couple episodes, I noticed Parmount+ w/ Showtime put them up around 12:15 am ET
i feel like we haven't gotten any Courtney and Simone together? if seeing their younger self in the plane is something that happens any time one of them dies, either we were robbed or Lottie's not dead.
Came across this and can't read cuz not a member but it could be worth a read....it's from 2023 but it was still asking the question of who these other yellowjackets were back then Who Are All of the Other Yellowjackets?
This show is like: A Plot: Shauna holds the Yellow Jackets hostage in the woods and they lose their only chance of escape before winter. B Plot: The surviving trauma ridden women have to figure out who’s telling the truth about the death of their close friend and who will be sacrificed next to an entity that maybe doesn’t exist C Plot: I got that deal with the Joels! Pass the blunt, turn up the Stone Temple Pilots! We should get steaks!
Showtime always drops new episodes on Paramount+ 12AM EST Fridays, and then they air on linear premium cable Sunday nights. I think they're the only ones who don't do a streaming/linear simultaneous release. It's a pretty unique strategy.
that seems odd, but i guess the kind of people who'd watch on sunday aren't perpetually online enough to be actively avoiding spoilers anyhow
Idk about the network’s other series, but AMC used to drop new episodes of its Walking Dead shows a few days early on AMC+ before their Sunday broadcast. Now I think it’s just the morning of
