This established that the present day Yellowjackets believe both Melissa and Gen are dead. Will make it more interesting if Hillary Swank does turn out to be Melissa. Swank is a little too old to be playing Hannah's daughter.
I legitimately enjoyed that the show confirmed Melissa and Gen died by Van saying, “Yeah, but they’re both dead,” especially after getting the audience to become invested in Melissa this season. This show has plenty of mysteries; it’s a clever choice to yada yada a couple of them for an unexpected reveal I don’t believe that either character is actually still alive, but I’m not ruling out one of them making it out of the wilderness and dying before the present timeline. If the show does run five seasons as planned, I hope season 4 ends with the past timeline characters being rescued and season 5 follows them reintegrating back into society
If Hannah’s around the same age as her actress (37), I could see Hilary Swank’s character being her daughter in the present timeline
My prediction is still that the penultimate season with end with the Yellowjackets getting rescued in the past, and the Yellowjackets returning to the wilderness in the present. The final season will be flipped with the past in New Jersey and the present in the wilderness.
Shauna in both timelines scares the shit out of me. That look of glee when Lottie axes that dude’s skull and how she seems too ready to kill Hannah’s daughter without any hard evidence that she’s connected (just like with Adam) is pure terrifying I believe the DNA from underneath Lottie’s fingernails is Callie’s, but I don’t think she killed Lottie
The last three episodes have been so difficult to watch. Liv Hewson might just be MVP of the season for me so far. Heartbreaking to see them think they're about to be rescued and then watch it immediately dissolve with Lottie. Curious if it's feasible that Lottie runs away, the others are searching for her to kill her since she blew their chance at going home, Lottie ends is Pit Girl but the scene we saw is unreliable narrator, hence Lottie surviving. Probably some mental gymnastics in there, but ruminating theories is half the fun of this show
Haven't watched new episode yet so no thoughts buttttt Edit: ok watched. Joel McHale! Once again the present pales in comparison to the past, however it will be very interesting to see who the mystery person is. I had originally thought Melissa, but who knows now.
Maybe it'll get better upon rewatch, but so far this is only episode of the series I haven't liked Revealing a character faked their death is hard for a show to pull off without feeling like a gimmick, and I don't feel they stuck that landing. Even though she's had an increased role this season, we still haven't really learned anything about teen Melissa as an individual, so her popping up by surprise as an adult doesn't have enough weight to feel earned. It also makes the exposition coming from her seem not quite natural, which wasn't fun to have in an already exposition-heavy episode. Tbh I don't care what happens between Shauna and Melissa in the present timeline Shauna, Tai, and Lottie's motive for wanting to stay in the wilderness was believable enough, but Shauna commanding that everyone stay made me groan, and at this point I wish the show would shit or get off the pot regarding Evil Tai. Highlights for me were the Callie and Jeff moments, Liv Hewson's acting (as always), and that's about it
Shauna is brutal as fuck the furniture plot line lasting this long or happening at all is my least favorite part of the season Dig Me Out instantly a top 3 needle drop for this show
Shauna rules. I'm glad they went this route with her character because the adult timeline has been boring as fuck
My bad, I guess there are 8 then? I know people counted in the rescue scene from last season. I just know there was one mystery survivor
I think those are left kind of vague so they retcon if they want to. I don't know what they have planned out to the end but I think they're using as much flexibility as they have. Why we don't have a count of survivors after the crash ever or a break down of who made it back. I'd love a documentary after the series ends that treats it like a real life thing.
Just finished episode 6. In regards to the end, glad we’re back on track of having a plot again, but otherwise I was mentally groaning through the whole episode. Hoping this season improves from this point on.
Another interesting episode. Really like where this episode has been heading since episode 6 reveal. Dark Tai was creepy as fuck. Adult Shawna was SO giving her teen vibes it was scary haha. Callie totally killed Lottie right? Girl is sus as hell.
