think of all the fun discussion that would have been lost if it dropped all at once , I hate the binge model
With whole season drops I feel like I forget 70% of what happens by the time the next season comes out. I won’t be forgetting a single thing that happened in this show that’s for sure
i saw drew barrymore mentioned for adult van, but that feels a bit farfetched and simply bc she played young van's mom in santa clarita diet
I've heard a lot of different names thrown out for adult Van. Sarah Snook and Julia Stiles being the most common. I've even seen someone say Melissa McCarthy. My favorite casting idea for adult Van i've seen is Mireille Enos (The Killing, Big Love, World War Z)
I think they’re two sides of the same coin. A little stoned so this may not be super well verbalized, but I think The Wilds is more concerned with how trauma and the elimination of high school politics and the outside world changes the dynamics between teenage girls. Whereas Yellowjackets is looking at how those two things can drive people apart. I also think The Wilds is more interested in observing the immediate and YJ is more interested in the long term effects and fissures. Really interesting they both came out within a year(ish) of each other and the different roads they’re taking
I don't know what episode you're on so i'll just say I didn't know what kind of show this was going to be until probably halfway through the season. After I reached that point all the expectations of what i thought this show would be and the comparisons to other shows I made got thrown out the window.
well, they both stem from the same “lord of the flies but with teen girls” general concept, but yeah, i get what you mean
I did enjoy the wilds but it was just so cheesy compared to yellowjackets. It’s crazy how two shows could be so similar and so different at the same time
Heads up that the first episode of The Wilds has one of the worst scenes I’ve ever seen. Almost made me stop watching but I’m glad I kept going. Not sure I’d consider the show in general to be cheesy anywhere but that’s just me. I think it does a really great job of exploring being a teenage girl. It’s also incredibly well cast. Any combination of the main group of girls is dynamic to watch on screen
Reddit people think Shannyn Sossamon is going to be adult Lottie because she follows a bunch of the cast and the shows costume designer.
yeah i don’t view the wilds as cheesy at all, it’s just clearly marketed to more of a YA market than this is
God i love this cast so much. I'll say this again what makes this show so good is the cast chemistry. also Phaynes don't watch this because spoilers
Maybe cheesy isn’t the right word but some moments like the Raise Your Glass scene made me audibly groan hahah. Again I did enjoy it, should be interesting to see where the next season goes with boys added to the cast which will take it in a totally different direction than YJ
just finished episode 3, like the developments this episode had. also the theme song works. perfect amount of over the top/buffy theme type stuff
