I mean, I've grown out of this band. Is that not okay? Why should my favorite band five years ago be one I still love? Realistically, there's no direction they would go in that would satisfy my current tastes. I hope they shock me but that's doubtful
I think Lift A Sail proved their ability to move away and do something a little different. I hope they don't backtrack. but tbh, it's not like I regard WYTTSY or SA as failures. they're exceptional at what they do and I've yet to see diminishing returns
I agree - not sure if diminishing returns defines it, but how many times can you write the same thing? SA was a perfect, more mature pop punk record. That was as much of a grand slam as it could've been. I really enjoyed LAS and I hope their sound continues to evolve. I have a good feeling about this one.
But, like, you haven't heard a note of music yet from it. How could you possibly know that for certain?
Unless they become an entirely different band, going in a direction nobody expected, in a way that would probably isolate a very large portion of their fanbase...I literally can not imagine a realistic way this band could shift and appeal to me (outside of potentially a couple songs) at this point. Not blaming the band! They've given me a ton of material that I loved before. But it happens, can't love everything forever
Too excited for this. Yellowcard has become one of my favorite bands since I noticed as I've gotten older (only 20 but still) I feel they have great lasting value in terms of lyrics and music.
I wish I hadn't read this. Dark-sounding names and the album art is kinda ominous. Or maybe I'm just being paranoid.
Shit, I'm so incredibly behind on everything (traveling outside of the country for a couple weeks). Haven't read the entire thread yet, but I'm very excited based on that artwork and track list. I'd love a darker direction.
They also tweeted "In 5 days we will have finished recording a very special record." To which someone replied "You always say the record is special." And they said "Well, you'll see." But maybe i'm just being paranoid too.
What if their new video with all the fan-submitted pictures becomes a "goodbye" or "thank you" sort of video? ... This can of worms that has been opened hurts my heart. I'll stop now.
I talked to the band and the track listing isn’t quite right and those weird watermark letters don’t appear in the artwork.
yea figured those watermark letters were just that, but interesting about the tracklist. Guessing a different order or maybe another track? Either way cant wait for you to start hyping us up about it. Change the website to have a cloudy look on release day like you did on AP with LaS haha. It was really warm and rainy today so I listened to a lot of Yellowcard and Saves The Day in preparation for their new records (hopefully STD announces something soon). It was a good day.
They already said the album sounds almost nothing like Lift a Sail. But if you're referring to Lighte & Sounds, I agree.
