*Does not compute* I should add I do like OFTK, probably because it's the first taste of YC I ever had.
I've listened to the entire YC catalog (well, OFTK-LaS) TWICE today. Holy fuck. I never do that. Turns out I really love this band and now I'm sadder that they're leaving
I've listened to Still Standing, OFTK, and Underdog a ton since they announced the final album. I'm really loving going back to the beginning and listening in order and hearing the little differences in the music as the personnel changed over the years. Lights and Sounds is my favorite. Paper Walls is the "best", but Lights and Sounds is my favorite. There's something so unique about the typically peppy poppunk band (albeit an extraordinarily talented one) playing really drawn out sad songs and exploring strings and lower tunings and really courageous songwriting. It's so special to me. It's like pop-punk Sgt. Pepper. I'm also getting sadder the more I listen!
I know we finished talking about BLG a while ago, but I'm listening to Love Drunk now and I'm just blown away that they managed to make two records where the first five tracks are the five best songs on the album.
Just got back from their Warped set in SLC right after stepping off a plane from Tokyo... needless to say, I am wiped out. One of the craziest crowds I've had at a YC show – lots of energy and love out there, was a really fun time. SLC loves their Yellowcard!
I'd almost give you self-titled on this. I like "Holiday" more than "Hero/Heroine." I wouldn't give you Love Drunk though. "Contagious" is probably a bottom three song on that record for me.
Hero/Heroine is the questionable song there, and I might prefer Up Against the Wall instead. For Love Drunk, Two Is Better than One is the one I might leave out, but I love Contagious. it's....contagious.
My fifth for Love Drunk, as previously discussed, is "Shot Heard Round the World." I like "Two is Better Than One" though. On the whole, I think their ballads from that album are way better than the ballads on the first. But "Leaving California" is in the second half, so that demolishes the trend.
Someone Like You is kind of a weak point to me, but I do like the other ballads on the album. But Thunder still beats them easily imo. Leaving California is also in the top five. I could maybe include Life of the Party over Shoot, so that'd be another 4/5.
Not a bad song, but it always kinda sticks out to me as a weaker point. I think it drags on a bit too long.
"Hero/Heroine" is my favourite BLG song. "The Great Escape", "Up Against the Wall", "Learning to Fall" and "Thunder" would complete my top five from that album and my top five from them in general.
Self titled: 1. Thunder 2. Five Minutes to Midnight 3. Up Against the Wall 4. On Top of the World 5. The Great Escape Love Drunk: 1. Love Drunk 2. She's Got a Boyfriend Now 3. Contagious 4. Heart Heart Heartbreak 5. Two Is Better Than One Crazy World: 1. Crazy World 2. The First Time 3. Leaving California 4. Be Your Everything 5. Shoot
I didn't like it until I saw them live on that tour. It was maybe the best sounding song in the set. Plus, the bridge is fantastic. All five of their worst songs are on Crazy World. Though "Learning to Fall" is pretty close.
