That being said, they should probably do at least one song from it as well as something from Underdog just to cover all their bases. EDIT: on their final tour that is.
Star Struck, Sureshot, Rock Star Land, October Nights are all pretty cool songs. Rough Draft is good too but I prefer the full band version over the acoustic one that's on the album.
Can any of y'all hook me up with some b-sides? Maybe @Craig Manning or someone? I'd love to have them
That set list is going to be super interesting. Ya I think one from Underdog and OFTK would be enough. I think more people would want OA and PW deep cuts
Wow look at that, thought it could never happen. I would never have thought of including Life of a Salesman or Crash the Gates, but they not bad songs either.
Also I think we've had this discussion before in here, but I think LaS is perfect where it is and wouldn't make sense as a closer
Yeah I really like them both as kind of more rock oriented songs. Btw, think you could hook me up with b-sides? Don't really care too much about covers and I've got the acoustic, just need the songs scattered throughout that didn't make the records
Yeah I'm going through the entire discog and it does make more sense where it is. California is a great closer. I just love the title track so much.
Personally, I love that they went with kind of a different album structure on LaS. Whereas before they had really only done big, grandiose closers, that time they put the climax a few tracks from the end and then brought it down from there.
I don't have too many either - I think just Bombers and Promises, and maybe In Time. I'll upload what I have later today.
Listening to Lift a Sail on my run today, I think there's a chance that it could be my favorite Yellowcard album. #bringthehate
I did the same a few weeks ago and remembered thinking "why does everyone hate on this album so much?" Wouldn't say it's my favorite, but it's still really good.
It's a good album. It was following up WYDTSY and SA though so it was fighting an uphill battle as far as exceptions. IMO that may be why it's not as loved.
What would yalls ideal final YC set list be? Putting mine together now. Have to add new tracks from LP8 in.
I love the songs I love on Southern Air more than anything on Lift a Sail, but I love more songs on Lift a Sail, if that makes sense. It's also just an extremely personal album for me, which I've only realized recently. Both of them are, but I think LaS is starting to mean more to me as I get further away from when it was released. I could understand not liking it if you stopped after the first four tracks. I think it's pretty bulletproof from "Fragile & Dear" onwards, though. This is kind of where I've landed. I don't like Paper Walls as much, but I can see why someone would pick it as their best. I really like Ocean Avenue too, but I think there is less of an argument for that one because it's kind of uneven.
I thought about making one, but I don't think I could do it until the new album is out. I'm sure a bunch of those tracks will deserve to be on there.
I would personally put WYTTSY in the lower part of the YC discography, but I agree that SA is among their best, and LaS felt like a bit of a letdown after that. But listening to it on its own merits, it's quite enjoyable.
