Here's an interesting bit of trivia: Boys Like Girls are, for some reason, the only band I've ever seen three times in one calendar year.
I think "Crazy World" is a better song than anything on Love Drunk. I also like his voice a lot more than Alex Gaskarth's.
Now that I look at the track listing, Crazy World definitely is decidedly weaker than the first two, but it still is like half really good songs
Honestly kind of baffled at the love you guys are giving Crazy World. I listened to it again today thinking I was underrating it. I wasn't. I'd probably give it a 5/10.
Theoretically, I should like "Crazy World" because it's a co-write with the guy from Better Than Ezra. But alas, I do not.
I think it's just a bad, calculated attempt at the mainstream country sound. They don't commit to the stylistic shift enough for it to be interesting and they don't retain enough of their previous strengths for it to be as catchy as it should be. With co-writers like Kevin Griffin and Luke Laird, that album should have their best hooks, but by far the catchiest song is the one Martin wrote himself.
Just checked the writing credits and I like all the songs those two guys co-wrote. I still think the title track is catchier than The First Time. I also think songs like Stuck in the Middle and Cheated have pretty good verses that don't have much of an effect because the choruses are so weak.
Haha, I actually haven't listened to that album in quite a while. Maybe I'll put that on and have a fresher opinion.
I do remember Jason's first impressions of the album said something about the songs having a similar pop sensibility to Butch Walker
Crazy World? I would disagree with that. Butch has a much better sense of how to meld country into his style. I do think there are similarities between Butch and Martin though.
