I didn't really like it either. I did listen to MSK and Illuminate the other day though and was pretty into them, might give it another shot at some point.
yeah but you're a lost cause and we already know that haha. that said, i hope you enjoy it more, though those two songs are among the best i'd say
I'm indifferent on Lift A Sail. I really liked after it first came out. Since then...I've listened maybe once.
I do really like that they made Lift a Sail though. It makes them a more interesting band to me having that in their discography.
It kinda baffles me that Transmission Home is a consensus top song on the album, it's been my least favorite since the beginning. Agree that the title track is great though, that's my favorite song on there.
"Transmission Home" is great, but the title track, "MSK," "Fragile and Dear," "Illuminate," and "California" are all better songs.
I only really ever go back to Lift a Sail, Crash the Gates and One Bedroom even though I don't think the rest of the album is terrible. Transmission home is my least favorite album opener they've done.
Here's a hot take: I like the new song better than any song on Paper Walls, and I like Paper Walls. Very high hopes for this new record.
Transmission is the dynamic, interesting, and still catchy song that they seem to long to want to do when they go more "rock"
"Convocation," is such a great opener. I wish they would've brought it back in some form to close the album.
So I just read the train wreck of the last 20 or so pages since right after the breakup announcement so I thought I'd add my favorite opinion that is vastly different, Lights and Sounds is a better album than Ocean Avenue, but OA has stronger songs. Like as a whole I like Lights better but songs like Way Away and Breathing are better than a lot of Lights and Sounds. Also here's something I've been thinking about that needs to be discussed again. How should Yellowcard close the final tour? Should it be Ocean Avenue or something else? Personally I think it should be Believe. It's fast, it's popular, it's positive, and I just think especially with that chorus, it's something that I think just fits saying goodbye.
Hmm, not sure I can get behind this hot take. I do like the new song though, it has me really excited for what's to come.
I like this. It is kind of the same thing they are talking about in the Brand New thread with DAG and Daisy, where the former has the better songs overall, but Daisy is more consistent, and it just depends on if you prefer better songs or consistency, which in this case, I prefer the latter, so I like Daisy and LAS more. As far the final song, Believe would be a great closer, but I also think Southern Air could fit as a ender as well IMO. It's very upbeat, positive, and has a good message.
The new song is just fine, but it doesn't get anywhere near their best songs. Actually it's their worst opener and has taken some of the excitement I had. Somehow feel like "What Appears" is gonna be the big song that really starts that album, though.
Can't get behind anyone saying Daisy is more consistent than TDAG. I'd take like every song on TDAG over like 90% of Daisy.
