I think it’s more appreciated now than it was at the time. It was darker, not as fun/sunny as OA was. Has some great songs on it, but I prefer the other 2 of the big 3.

I think awakening just barely edges out the takedown for me, and the takedown just barely edges out the sound of you and me. It’s that close. And speaking of southern air, shout out to telescope. Fantastic song.

Any updates on when there will be a potential tour announcement?

I have a large ticketmaster gift card I'm ready to burn on it if it's actually some type of large arena tour.

Man I just love seeing all of this YC discussion. My contributions are: Paper Walls is peak, and Awakening is probably the best opener, but the last 90 seconds of Sound of You & Me is freaking incredibleeeeeeeee. Listening to it right now. GOD DAMN.

Anyone else think the two new songs are unimpressive? They sound like generic pop punk any band couldve released over the last 25 years.

They aren't breaking new ground for the band, but they aren't trying to. Both are solid yellowcard songs.

As I wrote last fall, I think I'm comfortable now proclaiming Lift a Sail as my favorite Yellowcard album. Southern Air and Ocean Avenue round out the (incredibly strong) top 3. Paper Walls and When You're Through Thinking are 4 and 5. Good band, no notes.

both are solid. Just expected something more I guess.

all of the posts had me excited they were going to break new ground for Yellowcard and not just release more of the same (but with travis on drums)

  12. And when like paper walls, one of the best pop punk albums ever is at four on a list, you know you’ve got an incredible and diverse catalog. Legends.

I had never listened to Paper Walls before like, 2022 for some reason and it knocked my socks off when I finally got to it

Lights and Sounds holds a really special place in my heart. That album was super formative for me, got me through an incredibly dark period of my teen years. So grateful for it.

Saw the track “City of Angels” on the track listing for the new album and it immediately made me think of “City of Devils” on L&S. Hope it’s a sister song.

An inconsequential shift as the continents drift.

Rough Landing Holly was the first YC song I ever heard back in the day, still one of my favourites

Going to do a discog run to only listen for solos and then rank them.

Solos don’t get talked about enough with this band, which is nuts considered they’re one of the few bands in the genre with insane guitar and violin solos.

One of the few who thinks SA is just okay (don’t shoot me), and I think Paper Walls, Lift A Sail and The Childhood Eyes EP are the best things they have released. WYTTSY, OA and Self titled comes next, and then we have SA, Light and Sounds, and OFTK.

But what a band, so glad they are back, new songs are fantastic.

This is one band I can’t rank literally anything.

Sometimes I think Lift A Sail might be my least favorite and then I’m like “But wait, the run from ‘Illuminate’ through ‘Lift A Sail’ is my favorite four song run in their discography so that can’t be”.

Then sometimes I think “Lights and Sounds” is my least favorite, and I throw it on only to be like “I love this song. And this one. And this one.”

I never spent much time with self titled. Revisiting it today, hot damn The Hurt is Gone is a top tier song
