“The record we’re playing is “Better Days,” the new one from Yellowcard, which you guys seem to love. Ted worked with the band 20 years ago at Capitol, so it’s a reunion for him. We have found that “adult emo” is more popular than ever, and new music from a band whose “Ocean Avenue” still gets played on 60+ stations a week makes absolute sense. I’m just happy to be right, and this song is perfect for summer.“ BETTER DAYS
I literally know nothing about ADTR. quick google search seems to indicate the bassist was accused of sexual misconduct with a minor and he left the band when the allegations came out...what am i missing here?

hmm. yea. i saw that one too. seems odd he wasnt really charged with much for something with such serious consequences.
He did not leave the band when the allegations came out. He was in the band for like a year after they came out and then he amicably left the band on his own terms. The band took him on tour and everything.
Ryan is literally in this thread. I’m sure he sees this discussion. I’ve loved Yellowcard for 25 years, but I can add another band I loved to the list of bands I don’t want to support anymore. It sucks everytime, because I know there’s nuance to some of it, but that doesn’t change my personal feelings toward it.
They toured with Memphis May Fire back in the day and have Matty on a song. I think we’re probably past any sort of accountability here. The Amity Affliction Frontman Says Memphis May Fire's Matty Mullins Is A "Piece Of Shit" - Theprp.com
I am very lost in this thread. Accountability for having Marty on a song ten years ago? I think we need a new word because I am starting to feel even more like “accountability” is being used in ways that just don’t make sense to me. I’m just confused now.
Not taking a shot at anyone, but it is interesting to see this venom at Yellowcard when it wasn’t directed at The Used, Movements, Magnolia Park, Beartooth, Four Year Strong, Scowl, Militarie Gun, BMTH, August Burns Red, Stand Atlantic, etc who have all toured with ADTR since Josh left the band. I get people maybe having higher standards for YC, but let’s not act like a lot of bands these forums love haven’t done the same exact thing. Touring with ADTR is a big opportunity and plenty of bands are complicit in them being so successful because cancel culture doesn’t exist and at the end of the day these bands have bills to pay. It’s definitely more nuanced than a lot of these complaints are stating.
To your credit, you’ve been about the only one I have seen been consistent about ADTR. I respect your opinion and get where you are coming from. I will say just because you saw YC headline to a big crowd a few years ago, doesn’t mean they don’t have bills to pay and there’s probably certain pressures from labels/management that play into the decision. That was a reunion tour celebrating a beloved album. That’s not something they can continuously do. It’s a machine that they don’t control all parts of and part of financial sustainability as a band is being on tours that build/maintain a fan base. Regardless of disagreeing or not liking the decision to tour with ADTR, I completely understand it.
Not to say this necessarily applies to anyone, but if there happen to be any people that are trump supporters that are also mad about Yellowcard touring with ADTR, that's incredibly rich.
It certainly is a curious thing to drop in the middle of a thread where no one who fits that description is likely to see it.
Yeah probably lol. Just felt like an opportunity to vent some of my frustration with the country currently.
You do you. Fans always know more about the inner workings and complexities within bands than the bands themselves do anyways, am I right?
It sounds like you are pretty close with them personally and know all the inner workings of how everything went down. I’ll just have to hope this tour doesn’t ruin our career I guess.
You’re in here literally questioning my morality and I’m supposed to say thank you or what? I wasn’t there. You weren’t there. I’ve been through this, granted not related to these types of allegations, but with everyone saying they know better about why a member is staying or going in our band than we do. You don’t. You read things online and formulate your opinion. He’s not in their band anymore. None of the other members were accused of assault. This is a massive opportunity for us and for my ability to support my family. I’m sorry if you disapprove.
