It just has too many kinda mediocre songs imo. Itd make a great EP if you did: The Sound of You and Me With You Around Life of Leaving Home Hide Soundtrack It really shows that that was their first record back from hiatus. Then Southern Air just blew it away.
Fuck ranking Just wanted to come in and say that they absolutely killed at Warped today. Probably my fifth or sixth time seeing them and they're always fantastic
i like lift a sail a lot but apparently not as much as i think i do cause i can't rank it above southern air. i really like illuminate and the deepest well and the title track and i like that they pushed themselves w/ it
I adore Lift A Sail, but Southern Air was my first Yellowcard album and I think Paper Walls is their masterpiece. LAS is the only record of theirs that I own physically actually.
Southern Air Lift a Sail Paper Walls Ocean Avenue WYTTSY Lights and Sounds One for the Kids Listening through their discog this week, WYTTSY has definitely dipped in my estimation. I just feels less cohesive than their other records for me. More like a pretty killer collection of songs that they tossed together from years of writing. Not sure if that's the case, but I think the last two have more focus. Without "Dear Bobbie," Paper Walls might be my number 2. Lift a Sail remains criminally underrated. Ocean Avenue gets points for nostalgia. Hoping the new record takes the top slot.
i think a "best album" ranking for me would look like this paper walls lights and sounds wyttsy = ocean avenue lift a sail = southern air one for the kids silly emotional connections and stuff skewing lists!!!!! def think paper walls was their artistic peak even though i never connected with it like i did w/ ocean avenue and l&s. they went out (for the first time) on a v strong note
Southern Air Ocean Avenue Paper walls Wyttsy Lift a Sail One for the kids Lights and sounds Will always have the most emotional connection to ocean Avenue though, being 17 years old at the time. Also, the top four albums are more like all in first place for me. Tough to rank them. If we counted EPs, the Underdog EP would be pretty high up.
Southern Air Lift A Sail The rest. Didn't get into this band until after they came back. Southern Air was technically my first album of theirs.
There is no way to rank these for me because they each have a special meaning for a certain kind of moment. Listening to Lights and Sounds on a rainy day or during an emotional time, i would rank it my favorite. But listening to it while driving down to the beach, it would rank near the bottom. So it's impossible
If i had a gun to my head: Paper Walls Lights and Sounds Southern Air WYTTSY Ocean Avenue OFTK Lift A Sail
I thought the production was great...his voice i can understand but i think it's perfect for that record
