They sounded far better than what I was anticipating. I only comment on or even think about production where it significantly impacts my enjoyment of a song. I don't consider the production on most of the albums I listen to. Hypocritically enough it was OK for anyone to be negative about say the production of the latest Strung Out album but any negative comment relating to OMT/Travis are immediately deemed sacrilegious. That's what I don't get.
The chorus for “Take What You Want” has me so stoked for the direction of this album. I think the fact that they’ve had an entire year to work on this album and not feel rushed is going to pay off so big. Just really feels like this going to be there best one yet.
Loved both clips last night (even though I basically already knew I'd like Better Days from listening to the live videos from this past Fall). I see positives of both being released as a single. Better Days definitely feels more like a Yellowcard song we'd expect, but Take What You Want is really outside of the box and I was surprised (in a good way) by it. I'll be interested to see what direction they go. I voted for Take What You Want, but I'm expecting Better Days to be the single. Hopefully it gets released soon.
“I don’t shine like the others do” and “Who do I think that I am” are lyrics in the clip of TWYW that are plucked from WRK’s “The Bowery”, btw
Nice pull. I haven't listened to "The Bowery" in a really long time at this point, so I wouldn't have caught it right away. I remember he re-used the chorus from "Brighton" on "Honest From The Jump" though. Really cool to see him re-use some of of his favorite things he put out during Yellowcard's break-up.
I wonder if they would ever re-record something for a single, ala Anberlin. “Shrink the World” or “Keeper” would do really well. Not to say I don’t trust the new material because both clips sound bonkers good. Just a curiosity.
Re-recording a song for the purpose of making it a single doesn't really make sense when you're on a smaller label than when it originally came out. In the Anberlin case, it was the opportunity for a major label push. I want all brand-new Yellowcard songs. Because they're going to be great.
Yellowcard is showing Anberlin how to do a reunion. That situation is such a mess. Imagine if Ryan left YC
Yea…there would be NO Yellowcard just like there is NO Anberlin rn….both singers are essential for their band and make their sound
Anybody have access to the new tracks? I missed it. Curious to see if anything off Childhood Eyes makes it onto the full length. I thought that EP was fire.
"Fragile and Dear" has moved up in their catalog for me steadily over the past few years. So, so good
TWYW continues to be the song that is stuck in my head after listening to the clips, and then not listening to them for the last day or two
I missed the clips but that's okay. I listened to that live stream of Childhood Eyes and then didn't hear those songs again for months. It was torture lol.
