I only ever heard like the first few songs they released I didn’t know there was basically an entire album holy shit lol
I didn’t know “hang you up” was originally Big If. I did a cover of that song for our Chorus Yellowcard covers compilation a few years ago. Might have been AP.net still, actually.
What an absolute gift. I have all of these in varying degrees of quality (some terrible) so to have them on streaming is just wonderful. I’d also like to think that some thought went into the track list. So to me this is basically how they envisioned the album. You Went Gold is one of the greatest songs ever. And the guitar solo is very reminiscent of the solo in that Billie Myers song Kiss The Rain. I love it so much.
cross checking with my library, Get Down and Whereabouts Unknown are the only two I didn't have, and I have an additional version of Hang You Up, otherwise it all matches up for me
great to have these somewhere other than in a void on my harddrive. now gonna throw on touchtone inferno
Hahaha I think it works quite well in the bridge of that song too though, love how it opens things up
I am so, so happy to even just have the original demos in higher fidelity versions, but I was totally not expecting two new entirely new demos and that is even cooler
I guess I'm not familiar with The Lore, are these kinda like Jim Adkins' stuff as Go Big Casino or something?
Big If formed when Yellowcard went on hiatus in 2008 “Ryan Key and Sean O'Donnell of Reeve Oliver formed a small side project called Big If. Big If released many demos online and had a record due out in late 2009 which was cancelled.”
Sean was also absorbed into Yellowcard when they reformed, but he didn't stick around for more than an album
I always loved this project. Those songs were so damn good but I only ever really heard super low-quality mp3s of most of them. It's cool to see how many of these songs got deconstructed for other parts of Yellowcard songs or just re-used completely. I remember winning a trivia contest on AP back in the day, and one of the questions was in regards to which Big If songs made it on to WYTTSY. Still have that signed vinyl poster they sent as a prize.
