I fully admit I didn’t understand Lift a Sail at the time, but at this point I think it’s one of my favorite albums out of this scene. I think I was honestly too young to appreciate it in 2014, and with almost a decade of retrospect I’ve since come to appreciate how incredible it is.
Speaking of Yellowcard milestones, keep an eye out for an Ocean Avenue retrospective in a day or two…
Man that Three Minutes More clip has me hyped for the full release this week! And I’m seeing them just one day before in ATL. So pumped.
Been meaning to share my latest display of vinyl! After getting Lights and Sounds, I don’t have a spot for self titled though. I might have to get more wall mounts!
Yes, I remember him posting about it. He did a podcast a while back and they tried to get him to be in the band before they broke up. Loved seeing him filling in on the last warped tour with them.
Thanks @earthlight and @Pepetito Here's the Ocean Avenue retrospective. Truly cannot believe this album is about to turn 20. https://chorus.fm/reviews/yellowcard-ocean-avenue/
@Craig Manning that retrospective is so well written. I don’t read many music reviews or retrospectives these days as I generally find they tend to be “this is good” or “this is bad”, which I get from a critic standpoint. Your write ups are always focussed on the personal experiences though, which I love. The points on the end of Summer at any age hit me! As we approach August, If you have that playlist of songs in Apple Music/Spotify, I’d be keen!
Thanks for the kind words! Glad it resonated. I do actually have the current version of this playlist on Spotify. It's grown a bit over the years...
By this time tomorrow, we'll have new Yellowcard for our ear holes and I am jazzed about that. Also I am jazzed because my 16 year old said they plan on staying up until midnight so they can listen as soon as it drops :)
Another excellent set of reviews: EP REVIEW: Yellowcard – Childhood Eyes https://www.sfshameless.com/blog/2023/7/19/yellowcard-childhood-eyes-ep
Can't wait to dig in. Already heard it during the live stream and have been itching to relisten ever since.
