I'll write you into all of my songs Supporter

Some other anecdotes that they elaborated on:
    - Track 1: Ryan said he was on a plane about to take off, and was listening to PTVs new album and thought it was awesome, so he just texted Vic to see if he wanted to sing on the track, and Bic immediately responded saying yes. The feature is not just a second verse thing, it’s Vic actually singing harmonies and countermelodies throughout the track.
    - Track 3: Sean had the demo of this written ~7 years ago (I think), so that would place it right around s/t. I think Ryan said that around this time, they knew privately that they were ending
    - Track 4: Ryan Mendez originally was joking that when WRK sent him the recording amongst other tracks, he was initially very lukewarm on it. However, when they were writing together in Austin, it just fit perfectly with something else they were working on and it just all clicked.
    - Track 5: Ryan Mendezshared an anecdote that he was obsessed with Further Seems Forever as a teenager, playing the record non-stop, so to have Chris on the track is mind blowing to him as an adult, and that the whole band is so honored Chris agreed to contribute to the track. WRK also shared that Chris is such a nice human being lol

Just wanted to say thanks to y’all for your support and excitement. Having been in a place for literal years where I never thought we’d do any of this ever again, this is all very surreal to me. To see this kind of response to the new music, especially after the response to Lift a Sail wasn’t what we were hoping it would be, it’s a crazy feeling. To me it feels like how supporters of the band reacted to Southern Air, which is amazing to see happening because that was a very intentional and hoped for goal. Thanks again. Sorry for being too drunk at the end of the stream.

    New song is good!

Can’t say I’ve listened to YC much since Ocean Avenue, but I’ve had this song running through my head all day.

I’ll definitely check out the EP.

For me personally Lift a Sail was hard to digest at the time, but has grown so much on me. I think we as a fanbase where so used to really faced paced, rocking Yellowcard. You guys had come out with Paper Walls and then two really solid albums since the breakup ended and it felt like a hard reset with Lift a Sail. There is a darker, more emotional side to the songs that eventually won longtime fans over. The album as a whole felt more of a slow burn in comparison to its predecessors. Some of my favorite YC songs are on Lift a Sail.

I feel the reason most people like Paper Walls is because it was really good at meshing the fast paced yellowcard with the more emotional, rawness of the lyrics. And alot of really good hooks.

Your band has meant so much to me over the years. So glad you guys are back and excited to see you guys in Boston this summer.

    Thanks @williamryankey and @stayouttamalibu

100%. Instantly right up there with any chorus Ryan has ever written IMO.

The chorus of “Childhood Eyes” was in my head all night while I tried to sleep last night. Literally invaded my dreams. Thanks, Ryan.

  16. @williamryankey @stayouttamalibu I’m currently watching the Hey Play This! show that was on MySpace or whatever way back when on YouTube. Were you guys actually getting requests in real time? If so was there anything you wouldn’t/couldn’t play?

I totally forgot Rocket got played, that was a cool surprise.

Thanks for the kind words! I didn’t mean to make my post about LAS, I was just referring to how that album was received at the time compared to some of the more “fan favorite” albums I guess. Stoked to hear you’ve ended up liking it, and we’re very much looking forward to the tour.

We had a preapproved list of songs we’d play so when requests came in and they were on that list, we played them. I also forgot about Rocket until right now. It was mostly a list of songs we normally would play and then a few old ones/rare ones. I don’t remember those specific ones though, although apparently Rocket was one.

  20. That makes sense. I wonder how many requests for like Firewater or the Everywhere cover came through haha

Someone requested something from L&S, I think Down On My Head, and the way @williamryankey was just like “…great” made me chuckle

I friggin really enjoyed LAS tbh :)

I've never heard drums make that much of a difference to the sound of a band. Nate absolutely smashed it.

Finally got my vinyl copy of Lift A Sail! The blue swirl variant they did is actually super cool. Now the question, do I drop more money to get WYTTSY on vinyl...

Hopeless presses When You're Through Thinking pretty regularly. I would wait and watch their vinyl pages. They don't really announce represses. If the last several months of YC represses tells us anything, it will be coming.

Both the regular and the acoustic versions were available in the Hopeless store as recently as the end of last year around Christmas. Not sure when they will be available again, but with Southern Air being repressed again (which was also available then), I would wait and see what happens.
