I still clearly remember when there was a possibility that Paper Walls would be their final record, so I'm just gonna try to bear in mind how lucky we all were to get four more.
Welp, Wikipedia took down the YC album page; I just undid it. Notification at the top of the page suggests it needs more sources so I'll try that. Anyway, do you think we'll get another single? SA had 10 songs and 2 singles.
Just realized we'll never get a summer album release from these guys again and got super sad about it.
IIRC they aren't allowed to release during warped. Weekend of 8/19 is the first weekend after warped and about a month before the record drops so i'd bet on that.
It's a video of them playing some guy's birthday party as a surprise in 2001. Skimmed the other two videos and the set looks something like Drifting For Pete Sake Rock Star Land Big Apple A pre-EP version of Underdog Dammit (blink-182) with the birthday boy on drums Sure Shot Rough Draft (full band) October Nights Cigarette
The only album that I've really loved from Yellowcard is Paper Walls. And I owe that to Tate for his epic review. That album is one of my fave pop/punk albums of all time. Other than that i never really cared about YC's other albums. Sad to see them go though.
Listened to Lift a Sail last night, and holy shit, got really emotional towards the end of the album. California would have been the perfect end to their discography. I recommend everyone to listen to the album with the idea that it's their last one, or at least close to it. I listened to Paper Walls, Ocean Avenue, and Southern Air in the same day and Lift a Sail emotionally resonated the most to me. I'm pretty surprised to find myself saying that.
Would love Cyrus to play on the farewell tour if that LP rumor can't work out (which I assume it won't)
What do you guys think they'll play/want to hear on their last tour? I feel a 20 song set isn't asking too much. I would love if they play all their album openers and closers on this tour, they are all such strong songs.
I'll be pretty disappointed if there's not at least one each from OFTK and Underdog. Would kill for Firewater or Gifts and Curses as well. Include any combination of those with a greatest hits setlist of sorts and I'm probably happy.
My dream set: They played 23 songs on the Ocean Ave Acoustic tour, so I'm going off of that. It'd be cool to have them play all their openers to start, then the closers last with goodies in the middle Way Away Lights and Sounds The Takedown Transmission Home Awakening The Sound of You and Me Breathing Down on My Head Lift A Sail Always Summer Rough Landing Holly Cut Me Mick Empty Apartments With You Around Only One Encore: Paper Walls Back Home Southern Air Be The Young Hollywood Died California Ocean Ave Edit: Obviously I left songs out from the first album and EP. Not that I'm not a fan, I just would prefer these songs instead. Also we have the new album that I'm sure they will play off of, so it just goes to show they really need a 30 song set....
They've said on more than a few occasions since they came back that they don't like putting the older stuff in the set anymore because it kills the energy of the crowd. One would think, though, that on their farewell tour there would be a lot of people looking to hear those songs. I think if we get anything it will be October Nights and/or Avondale.
They may take the Anberlin Route and play a good greatest hits, or a Thrice and have fans vote. Either way, Avondale would be really nice.
