This is another thing out of the bands control as far as I know. It is so annoying that it’s not available to stream though
Ryan's 2nd acoustic stream starting in a few minutes. $10 or more to watch. Stream available for 1 month if you can't make it. Acoustic Live From the Studio - July 22nd - Crowdcast
LS dope as hell. Don’t do all this twitching and discording or whatever it all is but I accidentally streamed the live on today. Would love to watch the others
For anyone who is interested, Ryan started practicing guitar parts for Riot Fest and streaming it live on his Twitch last week. I think he said he's away for part of this week but will pick back up soon with vocals, too. It's been pretty cool getting a look at what goes on behind the scenes well ahead of a show. Can't believe we're just a month and a week away.
Wrote about Southern Air, which is somehow hitting the 10-year mark this weekend. Yellowcard – Southern Air
Such an awesome read. Your original review is a standout to me, too - you put into words what I have struggled to verbalize for quite some time now. This record will always remind me of the last summer at “home”, too. I was 23, done with college and by a random turn of events was in between apartments. I ended up in my hometown in suburban New Jersey for the summer living with my parents. As it turned out, so did about 10 of my friends from high school. By a complete twist of fate we ended up having one of the best summers of our lives - probably the last true summer of my youth. 10 years later we are all closer friends than ever before and that summer was the catalyst. In fact, i’m about to propose to one of them in a few weeks. What a wild ride This record was *the* soundtrack to that summer for me. I listened to it every. single. day. And many times after. But pressing play, hearing those first few notes of “Awakening”…it will always (even if only for a couple of seconds) take me right back to that summer. Warm nights, long drives, great friends. One of my favorite records ever.
Thank you for sharing your story. I love reading/hearing stuff like this, and how music connects to those moments. It's why we listen and why we love it. I have so many fond memories from that summer. Lots of time with friends and co-workers, just whiling away late nights over drinks and laughs. This album and Handwritten by The Gaslight Anthem are what always bring that season back.
Southern Air is officially 10 years old today. Perfect summer day to blast this on a drive up to the lake. Let’s roll
