Gifts and Curses and Firewater are my favorite B Sides. And I know it’s not a YC original song, but I like their version of Fix You way more than the Coldplay version.
Fave songs on albums...man some of these are tough. One for the kids (October nights) OA (Ocean Avenue) Lights and Sounds (Hollywood Died) Paper Walls (Light up the sky) WYTTSY (Be the Young) Southern Air (Here I am Alive) Self titled (The Hurt is Gone) All of these except for October nights have changed multiple times over the years. Love these guys.
I’ve said it before and I’ll scream it again, Gifts & Curses not being available for streaming is a war crime.
They have such extremely strong b-sides. I would LOVE for them to release a Rarities compilation at some point. Firewater and Gifts and Curses are such strong songs. Rough Draft is an all-timer for me, maybe my favorite song of theirs. Their Michelle Branch cover on Punk Goes Pop and Tony Sly cover on his tribute album, both are strong as hell.
OFTK (October Nights) Ocean Avenue (Miles Apart) L&S (Rough Landing, Holly) Paper Walls (The Takedown) WYTTSY (For You, And Your Denial) Southern Air (Southern Air) Lift a Sail (MSK) Yellowcard (Rest in Peace) But honestly, the Underdog EP is right up there with my favorite YC releases and is home to two of my favorite YC songs. I hate that it’s not on streaming. Can we fix that @williamryankey?
I was talking to someone at FBR a few months ago trying to see if they had the ability to get it on streaming too. They said they looked into it and it was all very confusing.
Where can I listen to a lot of these b-sides? I only have the ones from Paper Walls, WYTTSY, and Lift a Sail. Never heard of the Underdog EP. Bombers, Promises, and Gifts and Curses are all top-tier though.
So confession time… I never really grew up with Yellowcard’s music at all, for a very long time the only song I had heard was Ocean Avenue. Seeing all the hype among friends and people on here for their reunion made me curious to check out some of their albums for the first time. Southern Air absolutely blew me away on first listen a couple days ago and I’ve been hooked on it since! Gonna start going through the rest of their albums… I can tell this is gonna be a treat.
Southern Air is definitely their best overall I think but the Ocean Avenue -> Paper Walls run is a classic for me.
I did hear Ocean Avenue the album for the first time a while back. It was quite good but Southern Air definitely hooked me more on first listen. I’m planning to go back to Ocean Avenue after checking out some of their other albums. On Lights and Sounds right now… this is great.
I really liked Southern Air but also was very excited when it came out because people who are not normally into my kind of music were sharing it too
I was a casual fan until Southern Air as well, but that album got me fully onboard. I like Lift a Sail a lot, but love the final album. What Appears is a banger.
I’m listening to WYTTSY right now and fuck, maybe this is my favorite Yellowcard album. It’s definitely my personal quintessential summer album, but this has held up REALLY well for me
