My son turns 10 in July. He keeps asking when Yellowcard is going to tour so he can see them. I hope this is it. I know my wife would die too if they come somewhere near us (ABQ).
imo there should be no question it’s a top 5 YC song. One of Ryan’s best prechorus’ and such a bold choice for no guitars, yet it’s one of the most “YC” songs on the whole album. Ryan performed it acoustic on his solo tour and it shines in all formats
i think Southern Air will always be my favorite, but honestly their whole catalog is a tier above most of their peers, very excited for what comes next
Great way to put it. Easily one of the most consistently good catalogs. And mixed/produced so incredibly well throughout, too.
The only names I can think of who haven't done some sort of reunion recently are Something Corporate and Sugarcult. Putting that out in the universe, make it happen!
I don’t we should just assume Yellowcard is reuniting (although that would be awesome). Obviously whatever’s happening will be cleared up in time. Just basing my opinion off interviews, Ryan did say Yellowcard’s musical style was hard on him vocally for health reasons. As he’s leaned into more projects (Maker podcast, Edm influence and starting to score soundtrack) it’s seems like he’s getting further away from YC, and except for the work he’s doing with Hammock on reworking so Yellowcard songs to give them new life. I could see the other guys getting involved too. I hope for a new YC record, or the fact that if they play some shows together it could spark and interest to start back up. I am trying to keep in mind that may not happened based on what they said. If there’s info to drop or a need for clarification, WRK, always feel free to share or clear things up. I think we can all appreciate that if the guys are going to hype something they’ll do it when it works. I don’t think they are teasing through YC socials (I’m not the most plugged in), so I’m feeling like it’s something different.
This is a good way to go about this. I’m excited but I don’t know what this all means. Obviously was happy to be at the last show and know that most of the guys have moved on with life, other projects, etc. That said - whatever they’re doing here, whatever capacity the band may “return” in…I will just be happy to be there. The community they created (and one that is still very much in place) is something really, really special. Getting to keep that going, even in some sort of reduced capacity - whatever it may be, would be the treat of a lifetime.
Yeah, I'm not getting my hopes up for a full reunion with new music and all that. They seemed pretty set on being done 5 years ago and I certainly accepted that that would be the last we would hear from them as YC. With having no real expectations or even hopes for anything new from this band, I'm just excited for whatever this is, be it a show or tour or new music, or whatever
They were supposed to be working on a new album years ago but it never materialized. I actually emailed ryan about it a few years ago too.
Special place in my heart for YC so really anything will get me hyped. I’d be down to see The Audition return.
The three song run of “You and Me and One Spotlight” —-> “Cut Me, Mick” —-> “Paper Walls” remains absolute top tier
I might as well just kick it off, it's been a while Ocean Avenue Southern Air Paper Walls When You're Through Thinking, Say Yes One For The Kids Lift A Sail Lights and Sounds Yellowcard Where We Stand Midget Tossing (probably, I never listened)
Like I’m gonna rank when Ryan reads the thread. I’m a fan with preferences, I’ll say that. When I dared to fairly critique something on AP, a member of the band got mad at me. Not naming them because I’m not going to try to make him sound like some huge asshole. It was such a petty thing to get mad over I just laughed it off and assumed they were in a bad mood or something. Didn’t effect my love for the band in the slightest. Now it’s just a funny memory for me while I am sure they justifiably forgot about it within the hour.
Let's see: PW S/T L&S SA LaS OA WYTTSY OFTK I do love all these albums though, so even those at the bottom of my list be at or near the top of most other bands'
I think I’m still at Yellowcard Southern Air Lift A Sail WYTTSY Lights and Sounds Ocean Avenue Paper Walls One For The Kids
