Holy cow. I have two copies of this because it was Buy 1 Get 1 at Hot Topic or something at one point. Looks like I should try to sell one of them

I don’t think people without sources are misguided. Maybe uninformed.

It was nice hearing a remastered version of a song I wanted to hear remastered (or cleaned up). I’d be curious to hear the album. It’s so unfortunate that there’s always been so much drama.

It doesn’t sound like it’s the case here based on Jason’s comments, but it did make me think about things. One of the more interesting vinyl situations over the years was with major and indie labels selling rights to their music for really cheap, that allowed small labels to repress certain albums, whether the band wanted it done or not. In most cases, the band and label usually come to an agreement. However, with vinyl such a margin win it’s becoming harder to obtain the rights now. It will be interesting to see which albums from like the 2000s sneak through and get released in the next few years. There are some pretty obvious ones out there that I am hopeful about.

To me, the element of interest in remastered. I don’t really care about the vinyl collection like some people do. Again, the politics behind this may suck, but I’d be interested in hearing more of the songs with better production. I have for a long time.

  6. And if the guy that did it doesn't want his name on it or it to be released, and didn't get paid what he was promised? And it doesn't even sound "better"?

Like, what are we even doing here?

The purpose of a re-master should in theory make it sound better haha. But if the person that did the work doesn’t even want their name on it that probably says all you need to know about the project regardless of the band situation.

Well this escalated from "former members releasing a remaster without the approval of the band" to "unethical business practices to the point where the guy who did it doesn't even want his name associated with it" pretty quickly. Oh well, I was curious about it, enjoyed hearing October Nights, but I think I'll pass on the rest

This is all way too cryptic.

I get it’s not your place to say though. That said, this individual wouldn’t be the first to criticize their own work or complain about not being compensated according to promises. Original exists. This will exist too. Again, drama sucks.

I will be the judge (as will everyone else who gives it a listen) as to if it works or was worse. I think October Nights sounded good. Im not buying the vinyl then, but if it’s a digital release I am interested.

Just weird that Lobster is supposedly gone but there was a Lobster link. Lots of weirdness around this. LP and Ben sound involved or pro this release from the comments.

What did you think of the version of October Nights release? We aren’t privy to details other than what our ears hear. Just curious.

I haven’t heard it. I was simply commenting based on what Jason was sharing.

There is a link to listen on SoundCloud. No money will be made off a listen I don’t believe. Lots of people have disowned their work. No gonna use that as a basis of what good and what’s not.

It’s just unfortunate that there’s a lot of drama and not every member was behind this. I wonder what Warren thinks of this release?

Lobster Records may have been very dead, but it looks momentary revived to make a profit off One For The Kids. They have “0” followers, no items. Just profiting off the vinyl craze. But I will say I think that remastering means something was done.

I do wish more bands bought their masters once they hit it big (enough) financially to avoid this stuff.

Something about all of this seemed off from the get go. I don't have any interest in it- but I never had any real attachment to that record.

If someone owns the rights to the record they technically do this. Doesn’t matter how unfair or sketch it seems (and obviously it does). The bands history has way too much drama.

That said, so many great songs and records. I wanted to better sounding version of October Nights forever and this is the closest thing I’ll get.

  18. Going to continue to think the morality matters more than someone's technical legal ability to do something. Something being within their "technical" ability to do, doesn't mean anyone has to support it. And I think cash grabs while trying to play off that "Yellowcard" is doing something, when you don't even talk to multiple members of the band, is beyond messed up. The whole not paying the dude that did the remix what he was promised is just the cherry on top.

It's not like one of the biggest artist in the world is currently making the same argument by re-recording their entire catalog.

Where are the represses of Ocean Ave, L&S, and PW? It’s been a long while since there were in print

You may be fully in the know, but to a lot of people this is cryptic a weird. So playing the morality card is kind unfair. I’d rather hear both sides of the story (although I’m pretty sure a lot of people would agree with the viewpoint if they had info).

That said, WRK and Sean and whomever else can post some clarification if they want. Also, thats horrible if someone got ripped off for their work. I’d encourage them to speak for themselves to clarify for fans. Again, respect the fact that you can’t say anything in terms of names and details.

Just way too much under the surface drama though. A couple months ago people were attacking them over Juiceworld and hating on the band.

I actually listened to Paper Walls and Ocean Ave Acoustic in the past week. Such a good band. I wish them all well but I am here for the music on this band.

Did somebody say….paper walls? Damn I love that album. Still my favorite YC album and all time favorite album. Right up there with Futures for me.

  23. I’ve literally said it out loud, it’s right there! It’s the most uncryptic me, I’m all but saying every single thing down to leaving out the names. :crylaugh:

The dude. The guy. The Big Lebowski? Either way, hope that person gets paid.

It’s unfortunate and maybe disrespectful for sure. I’m not gonna overreact though.
