I miss Yellowcard. I wish Ryan was still doing a band thing like Big If… or WRK EP’s or something new in the YC vein. I know he’s got more stuff he was working on for his Patreon and I thought he was going to wide release that.

I think YC is probably is my 5th favourite band or artist I’ve listened to. I can across October Nights on Napster and had to hear more from the bands and got a hold of One For The Kids. It was cool having discovered them early and kind of watching them grow up while growing up.

I'll write you into all of my songs Supporter

I'll always wonder what their career progression would have been if their albums went OA > PW > L&S (which is obviously impossible but still)

I think Light Up The Sky was a bad first single choice. "Lights and Sounds" and "Rough Landing" were still pretty popular.

Everything from OA to SA is loaded with great single options. I’m sure going on hiatus hurt the mainstream YC push, but I’m sure the music landscape changes but too. Those comeback albums on Hopeless don’t miss a step between PE and WYTTSY.

I'm pretty sure Rough Landing did not chart well. Lights and Sounds only charted well initially because of the lead up hype coming off of Ocean Avenue.

We'll never know, but I feel like if Paper Walls was the next album after OA, with Light Up The Sky as the first single, they would've stayed more relevant in the mainstream for a little longer.

Ryan talked about this song on the Twitch stream - if i’m not mistaken, they were promised and sold on some sort of big TV spot for this song and it sort of helped push it as the main single, and then the TV spot ended up being 4 seconds of it playing in the background during a teaser trailer.

Still convinced these guys could throw out an absolute beast of a record and immediately sell out shows if they came back. A man can dream

Depends on who "these guys" would actually end up being.

I feel like Ryan, Sean and Ryan would be the core of this, but LP would be awesome. I feel like there are enough YC members to pick from that they could put together a lineup and make another great album or put in a show.

I don't see a reunion ever happening, unfortunately. I'm not one for band drama( and forgive the speculation), but it sure seems like Ryan (Key) and Sean didn't end on good terms-which is absolutely none of my business as a fan but also disheartening to hear after all of those years together. This band had a really special run- especially coming back after the hiatus. We were lucky to get a proper farewell tour.

Shoutout to Ryan Mendez. One of the more underrated guitarists in this genre. Everything Paper Walls on had just top-notch, massive guitar work all over that still is so great to listen to. I don't think they would have been nearly as successful without him on their second run.

I just assumed Sean wanted to be a Dad and get out of music and stick with having a job closer to home. It’s tough because one persons decision can impact another, but you do have to respect that. Even if there was a lot of disappointment, there doesn’t have to be tension.

I'd never heard that before, but I noticed they don't follow one another on Instagram which tends to mean what you said is true. Bummer.

I remembered this interview from early on in the pandemic. Around the 19:30 minute mark Ryan basically said (and I don't think it's a stretch to assume who he was referring to) that he and (presumably) Sean wanted to stop, while Key and (presumably) Josh wanted to keep going. He then pretty much (without directly naming) said that Key and and Mackin aren't friends anymore. A little bit of reading between the lines on my end, I admit, but I don't think it's hard to conclude who he was referring to.

Again, it's their buisness, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't disappointed to hear that. Almost 20 years together going from basement shows to touring the world. Hope they reconcile whatever differences they have.

Wow, I never saw that before. I assumed they all wanted to end it because the band's popularity seemed to dwindle. I still remember listening to Ocean Avenue on repeat for hours when I was younger. I wish the Ocean Avenue lineup could work out their differences and make another album, but I don't ever see that happening.

I listened to a few songs last night after clicking on this thread. Not crazy about some of the production choices on that album, but there are def a few gems on there.

I find it very hard to imagine a reunion given what we know about the end of the band, life, the industry, etc. As much as i’d love to see them play live and create music together again - and let me tell you i’d pay a LOT of money to see that - it just seems extremely unlikely and it’s not something I ever expect to see happen.

I recall an old episode of Lead Singer Syndrome in which Shane had Cove Reber on. Cove said he was a huge Ryan Key fan....until he met him. I don't remember why he said that but as a Saosin and Yellowcard fan, that one line stuck with me. Shane said he's heard people say that before.

Now this episode was from 2018 so who knows who/what has changed, but still...

  25. Ben and LP didn’t have a choice.

All this talk is just weird speculation.
