One For The Kids - "Rough Draft" Ocean Avenue - "Ocean Avenue" Lights And Sounds - "How I Go" Paper Walls - "Light Up The Sky" When You're Through Thinking, Say Yes - "Hang You Up" Southern Air - "Sleep In The Snow" Lift A Sail - "Lift A Sail" Yellowcard - "The Hurt Is Gone"
After much listening today I've decided that 'The Takeover' is YC's best album opener and 'Convocation' is just he most beautiful instrumental piece these guys have written in any song of theirs.
The violin and piano section of Gifts and Curses is easily my favorite instrumental piece they have done, I wish they made more songs like that
Three Flights Up will always be my favorite instrumental. Major nostalgia with that especially the Lights & Sounds album in general. Another song I feel gets forgotten cause it’s not on any of their albums but remains my favorite YC song is Gifts & Curses, I absolutely love that song and it sucks it’s not on streaming services. The Spider-Man 2 soundtrack in general was pretty good. Edit: hey wow some gifts & curses love above me didn’t see that coming!
I know it sounds ridiculous sometimes, but they had a really solid run of b-sides that still are some of their best songs Rough Draft, Gifts and Curses and Firewater all would land in my Top 10 songs from them, no question
Great song. They have a bunch of well done covers too, like New Found Glory's Ready and Willing, John Lennon's Oh My Love, Michelle Branch's Everywhere, Lagwagon's Violins, and Tony Sly of No Use For A Name's Already Won.
Three flights down is my favorite favorite of theirs. I agree that most of their bsides are some of my favorite songs Just got sad that gifts and curses isnt streaming Also I deff can’t rank albums and can’t even pick fave per album lol
One for the Kids - October Nights Ocean Avenue - Back Home Lights & Sounds - Martin Sheen or JFK Paper Walls - Paper Walls (Light Up the Sky is their best single of all time though, don't @ me) When You're Through Thinking - Be the Young Southern Air - Southern Air Lift a Sail - Lift a Sail Yellowcard - Empty Street
I rank it 3rd personally but I can get down with it being 4th as long as the 3 albums above it are Southern Air, WYTTSY and Paper Walls.
Something of Value Ocean Avenue Down on My Head Five Becomes Four The Sound of You and Me Always Summer Illuminate The Hurt Is Gone
Worst songs... One for the Kids - Big Apple Heartbreak Ocean Avenue - Believe Lights & Sounds - Two Weeks From Twenty Paper Walls - Dear Bobbie When You're Through Thinking - Soundtrack Southern Air - Here I Am Alive Lift a Sail - Make Me So or Deepest Well Yellowcard - Hurt is Gone
Worst songs (although I don't actually dislike any of these for the most part): OFTK - Trembling OA - Twentythree L&S - Probably Down On My Head, although I still do really like it (there are going to be so many people saying 2 weeks from 20 here which will make me sad) PW - Date Line (another song I feel bad putting here) WYTTSY - Hide SA - Here I Am Alive LaS - Make Me So YC - Savior's Robes (my only real critique of this one is that I think it would've been way better if they would've gone from the bridge to some epic violin/guitar 1-2 minute outro instead of just right back into the chorus. All that tension just feels kind of wasted to me)
Sorry! This is not a slight on Date Line at all, since I love every song on Paper Walls. It's just probably the one song on the album that I rarely listen to if I'm not listening to the whole album and something had to go there, so... :P
OFTK - Rough Draft Ocean Avenue - Back Home Lights and Sounds - Grey Paper Walls - Cut Me, Mick WYTSSY - Be The Young Southern Air - Southern Air Lift A Sail - Fragile and Dear Yellowcard - Empty Street B Sides - Bombers, Promises
idc how much people dislike the spoken word stuff in Dear Bobbie, Two Weeks From Twenty is the worst song this band has ever recorded
I’m not going down the “worst” road with this band. Way too many good songs to try and sift through just to say something’s the worst when it’s not.
Worst A.W.O.L. Inside Out Two Weeks from Twenty Dear Bobbie Sing for Me Southern Air Fragile and Dear I'm a Wrecking Ball
