Sort of unrelated, but I was listening to Over It today. Wish they’d taken off or lasted longer like Yellowcard.
Always been a favorite of mine off of Lights & Sounds... LP’s drumming... those verses. Man, I miss hearing that guy play! He’s one of the main reasons I started playing in the first place...
Down On My Head wasn't actually on the Lights and Sounds official release right? I remember buying that album on iTunes when it was released, but that song wasn't on it. Only discovered it years later. Same with When We're Old Men
Weird. If I remember correctly, iTunes kinda fucked up that purchase in general. For some reason the volume on that album was a million times lower than any other songs so you'd have to turn it way the hell up, and goodbye ear drums when moving to another album haha.
Definitely on the official release... I think I got a physical copy on day one, and it was there... track 3.
Are you thinking of three flights down? That and when we’re old men were the bonus tracks or b-sides or something.
Nope! I played the album nonstop when I bought it, it's my favorite one from Yellowcard. Still took a few years to find that song. Actually I think my album came with Three Flights Up. Was never that crazy about that one
Oh, I didn't realize three flights down is a totally different song from Up. I don't think I've heard that one.
Yeah I like Down on my Head but it's one of the worst on that album, followed by the title track. Probably one of my most skipped on there. Words Hands Hearts, Waiting Game, How I Go, and City of Devils are perfect
Devils, Rough Landing, and Waiting Game are the only ones I usually come back to. Hollywood and Lights and Sounds are ok.
Lift a Sail has aged really, really well. Illuminate, Madrid, MSK and California is some of their best work. Having said that, My Mountain and Transmission Home don't really do much for me anymore.
The switchup to the soft(er) chorus in TH is crazy cool, and My Mountain's outro is the purest YC moment on that album
I've really grown to appreciate it a bit more. I always felt the first chorus could be a bit louder, but I don't know whether it works better the initial chorus is softer.
Transmission Home's chorus always reminded me of Biffy Clyro. First time I heard it, it seemed clear the album was going to be a slight departure.
