Took me a few listens to get in to it. I find it interesting that the first time through the chorus, everything drops out. I'm not sure what the quality of this file is. It definitely sounds like a totally new sound for them, still...like a darker Lift A Sail. Sounds nothing like any prior albums.
I'm glad they embraced their sound changing and didn't revert back to an "old sound" due to fan back lash. I like this song, not as fast and hard hitting as I expect from a YC album opener, but still enjoyed it a lot. Guitar solo rips.
Yup, but... I definitely get Paper Walls vibes. It feels like a Paper Walls b-side. Edit: But like you said, it also feels kinda new.
Just hope it's the stream and not due to their own production. But VK streams are almost always good quality.
I'm not overly sure how I feel about it yet. I think it's definitely better than average, and it's got lots of paper walls to it. Tempo is very interesting, and I do like the guitar solo. I feel like lyrically, they're strong, and that's definitely good.
The tempo feels a little strange to me. Something about the song didn't "connect" on first listen. Maybe it's the transitions to the chorus? I'm not sure. But the more i listen to it, the more i like it.
Few listens in now. Can dig this. Chorus is a grower as I said and I really like the intro and solo. Only thing that still bugs me out is the quality so let's wait for tomorrow.
Yeah the quality of that stream is atrocious. I have no self control and listened to it haha. I like the song a lot. Not as strong as some of their other album openers. Wish the final chorus was a bit more hard-hitting after the first two subdued ones.
The tempo is interesting. It's got some little skips in it. I'd say it's in 4/4 tempo with a couple switches to 2/4, which really made me think Paper Walls, because there are a couple instances of that happening.
Lol, this comment on VK really made me laugh when I used google translate: "I want the album Southern Air, and not as in the past pops ... Enough grayness pancake !"
Yes! That's what I didn't want to say out loud. And the opening violin sounded like some of the early 2000's, pre-Ocean Avenue stuff.
I really like this a lot. The only criticism I have is I wish there was a little more "belting" from Ryan. The last chorus falls a little flat for me, at least for the first part. When the violin kicks in I'm all about it though. Does anyone else feel like the beginning is cut off a little?
I like it so far, but I agree with Justin. Also, the violin part sounds kinda like a slower version of the one from Bombers, at least the beginning of it.
