I’d say the first half is the stronger song, and it’s still better than “Holly Wood Died” which is only notable in my mind because of the the reprise of “Three Flights Up” at the end.
I do love how the album starts and wraps up like that. I don't think their two instrumental tracks Three Flights Up and Convocation get enough love, both are great. I voted for each lol.
"Three Flights Up" is the highlight of Lights and Sounds for me. "Convocation" is great too, but there are a lot more songs on that album that I love equally or more.
I would listen to and love a whole classical music album if they ever did one. They have some talent in that department.
god damnit also I'm surprised there are people who are so vehemently against HWD being one of their best. I thought it was a widely loved song. That outro is better than half the shit they've put out (and they're my favorite band so it's not like I'm shitting on the rest of their work)
I find the outro of that song to be overwrought and unearned. Plus I think it has a weak chorus and overall weak lyrics.
Final scores: Fields and Fences - 12 Holly Wood Died - 10 This is it, the last Yellowcard track ever is declared the winner! A round of applause for Fields and Fences! Thank you all for participating in this. It has been a pleasure to run this and I hope to see you in a future bracket if there is one!
Did not see this result coming when this bracket was started, but here we are. Not complaining though
I'm just happy Hollywood Died made it this far. It's clearly one of their best but I know how people like to vote underdogs in
Called it sorta late in the game but called it nonetheless! Despite it coming a lot closer than I thought it would've, I'm really not that surprised it won. This bracket is the kindest to L&S I've ever seen this community act in the last 12 years, would've been weirder if HWD won imo
If HWD would have won I would've called shenanigans and made us start the whole damn thing over again.
