honestly only listened to this song like, once, and don't recall anything about it. I'll listen again today
I'm surprised nothing has been heard/announced/leaked yet. YC may be keeping it super tight lipped as a surprise right as warped begins on Friday.
Deryck Whibley said they postponed the release of the first Sum 41 single because of the russians leaking information. Not 100% sure new YC is coming on friday. They asked who was ready for new music though and Warped is starting. We'll see.
I'm not sure if they can even release music during warped. Is there some kind of thing blocking that?
Let's hope so. I'm already nervous because "Rest In Peace" is the album's opener. All their openers have been great so far, even "Transmission Home" and I don't like that album. So I hope it will be amazing.
Same. I'm just stoked to hear new music from them overall. It would be a real bummer if nothing was released before warped. But like you said, I am a little weirded out that uber super russian site has nothing at all. They almost always have at least something within 2-3 days of release.
I always wondered, though, how do people get the actual file? Where could it possibly be posted that someone can access it early? It doesn't make sense to me that someone would post it where it is publicly available.
labels send things out early. that's one possibility another possibility is that hopeless has really bad web maintenance stuff and hosted files on their website are very easy to get to. different scenario, but similar, i know when the first single from TWY's TGG premiered on the old AP streaming system, the site crashed. however someone was able to look into the source code for the page and snag the MP3 from there. maybe someone figured out how hopeless hosts things and made it easy. or there's just a mole in hopeless, but i doubt that
Yellowcard tweets "We are excited to announce... That we will be part of the Vans Warped Tour compilation album"
Huge Yellowcard fan. Signed up just for this forum thread (though I will explore others as well) I love all the opinions that have been shared so far regarding favourite albums & b-sides. My favourite b-side changes once in awhile but, Promises & Bombers are definite favourites. I was hoping YC would have a new song on the Warped comp as I'm sure they are aware of the vk leak.
This is absolutely not true. Most happen because they are inevitable in the process and it has nothing to do with "smarts" or "dumbness."
well yeah, but there are always ways to avoid it. just because of the systems labels use and have used for years have inevitabiliies doesn't mean they have to use them. Relying on other companies that don't care screws them, labels need to be more self reliant and use other systems.
Not if you want your albums in places like iTunes, Apple Music, Google Play, Spotify, Amazon, Bandcamp, or stores there aren't.
In the case of Hopeless, is it information getting into the wrong hands prematurely or is it due to the information being so widely distributed? I'm not sure if you know any specifics, however I'm curious why it happens with Hopeless more than any other labor.
They like having their stuff up on all services, worldwide, when they announce things. So they sacrifice when the obsessives like us find out about things for the trade-offs of having it ready to go on all platforms and ready to order when they do their big pushes. They know it's going to leak when they submit the metadata, it's something they've pretty much come to accept for what they see as a benefit ... being able to have a worldwide announcement.
This is a good point. Ive never really thought about it that way. I'm not too familiar with how the whole release process goes when it comes to a single or album, so that's likely why my understanding of how things leak was a little blurry. But this clears things up a bit.
