This is impossible. I'll go with three. I'm sorry, but there's no way to narrow it down anymore than that: Surface of the Sun, Hollywood Died, Fields and Fences
Illuminate. I really should try to rank all the songs like others did recently, but that is just too hard.
Friends I need your help with something fun. For my Advanced Media Design class we have to make different designs for projects. My current project is going to be a Greatest Hits CD cover for YC. I have until next week, 10/17, to finish it but I need the tracklisting for it. Come up with the perfect tracklisting of 15-20 songs and it will be what I include in the design. For fun I plan on including the Patrick Stump version of Here I Am Alive too but lets come up with a good one.
I saw on twitter the other day that Ryan said Lift a Sail “will always be” his favorite YC record so I would say the title track of that album should be the closer.
ive never really thought Ryan Key was like a super good lyricist or anything. his words are usually basic but its the emotion behind them that sells it. thats not a knock on him per se, good lyrics dont have to be shrouded in layers of metaphor or simile or be a twist on a phrase, but it makes it harder to discuss just because the emotion gleaned from certain YC songs can be very subjective. i know this is probably obvious but just throwing my two-cents into the last pages discussion. I like L&S and Keys voice sounds fine to me, not as good as PW onward but given the fact that the poor guy had cysts and surgery its fair to cut him some slack. L&S has fine songwriting and I like the darker rock direction but yeah its prob my least favorite of the OA to S/T run. fav Yellowcard song.....fuck. uhhh Sleep In The Snow, Lift A Sail, You and Me and One Spotlight. could go with any of those tbh
Honestly. I’ll never see the huge difference in sound from Ryan’s L&S voice vs the following albums. I think he sounds great on L&S.
Quick story about L&S... That album hit me hard in 2013. Now it just reminds me of Paul Walker because that was like the first celebrity death that actually affected me and I was really into the album at that time. Its very underrated.
Here's a great tracklist which, in a sort of unrelated way, also is my favorite track listing of YC songs flowing from start to finish. Feel free to fit in Here I Am Alive where you see fit ;) Three Flights Up Cut Me, Mick Miles Apart With You Around Shrink The World Keeper The Hurt is Gone Empty Street Fragile and Dear Lift a Sail Sure Thing Falling City of Devils Be The Young Southern Air
Man, after hearing NFG and Story of the Year songs produced by Aaron Sprinkle, I really wish he had a hand in at least one YC album.
Hello everyone! Some people expressed their interest in having a Yellowcard bracket. I know some people in here don't like brackets because you think they kill discussion (which is why I made the Thrice one in a separate thread), but since this thread is pretty much already dead and there's basically no chance of getting any Yellowcard news right now, I have decided to do this one in here. (Please don't hate me). It will be a good way to bring some life back in this thread and start discussion about this band we all miss dearly. We will skip Midget Tossing and Where We Stand because I think most people don't even consider them as part of their discography. So we will start at One For The Kids. Please be respectful of each other's opinions and let's have some fun! I welcome you to: YELLOWCARD'S BRACKET AVENUE For those who are new to the concept, these are randomly generated brackets (no seeding!) where we go from album to album and put the songs from an album against each other. We vote on each matchups until we have a winner for each albums. Those songs will then face off in a Champions bracket to decide the best overall Yellowcard song! Same rules as the other brackets: Rules: 1. Voting will take place over 10-24 hour period, depending on how close the matches are (if there's a wide margin too far to beat, the round may be run ruled to not waste time). 2. You must vote on every match in a round. If you don't your other votes don't count. Just reply to this thread with your choices. I will not vote unless there is a tie needed to be broken. 3. Feel free to discuss why you chose one song over the other and why you like that song. It's what keeps these fun! 4. I avoid byes into rounds if I can, but sometimes it's necessary. These are randomly generated; I do not pick them. 5. Once your votes are counted, there are no vote changes. Choose wisely before posting! 6. The King John Rule: Only participate if you've heard these songs. You are welcome to look them up and listen before hand, but if there's evidence you haven't heard them before or you're just voting to help/hurt a song your votes will not count. And the most important rule of them all : Have fun and stay respectful of each other. YELLOWCARD FACE OFF: ONE FOR THE KIDS ----- Round 1 1) Big Apple Heartbreak Vs. Sureshot 2) A.W.O.L. Vs. For Pete's Sake 3) Something of Value Vs. Star Struck Round 2 Winner of 1 Vs Cigarette Trembling Vs October Nights Winner of 3 Vs Rock Star Land Winner of 4 Vs Drifting Round 1 starts now!
Big Apple Heartbreak A.W.O.L. Something of Value There are only three or four songs I like on this album and none of them are in this round. Also, what’s the plan with Rough Draft?
I will do a bonus round before the Champions bracket where I will put the bonus tracks and the EPs songs.
Sureshot For Pete's Sake Something of Value I actually really like this album. I definitely think it's their weakest, but I pretty much enjoy everything on the album and there are a few that I really love. This round was actually harder than I expected. Next round should be easier as Trembling, Cigarette, and Drifting are probably my 3 least favorite songs of OFTK.
