Great songs on there. Having Southern Air and Back Home as the penultimate and closer seems weird since Southern Air ends so definitively, but at the same time how can you not have those on the album haha.
"Illuminate" is one of their most underrated songs, I think. That and "MSK," which I also wanted to include, but ran out of space. Yeah, I knew I had to have both of those because they're my two favorite Yellowcard songs. But you can't really put either anywhere but at the end, and then it was a matter of which order sounded more appropriate. "Back Home" always sounds the most "final" to me of their closers, maybe because it's been my end of summer song for so long.
That's a nice idea but a huge miss. Three flights up leading into OA sounds really bad lol. I agree to have both on there but in different spots. Also no Hollywood Died, Be the Young, Takedown or Awakening? That's just the start of the complaints lol.
1. It's fine to share your thoughts/disagreements, but why be an asshole about it? 2. Yep, sorry for not putting four closing tracks and three openers on the same album. Good luck getting that to flow. 3. lol
Sorry man, meant no disrespect! Yeah Ftank is right, we've been doing it the last couple of weeks with the TBS and LP brackets back to back. Guess I'm still in that mode. I'll give my full thoughts tomorrow while at work.
You and Me and One Spotlight has become one of my all time YC favorites over the years. What a song. Kind of upsetting they never played it live.
I took this as not only a best of, but more of like the ultimate YC album. Like if this album was real and you handed it to someone who had never heard of them, this would be the best YC album it could be. I had to be unbiased a little bit and leave off Empty Apartments, You And Me and One Spotlight and Paper Walls even though they are personal favs. Ok, so keeping it at 50 Mins and making it flow: 1. Convocation - 1:55 2. Breathing - 3:38 3. Always Summer - 3:10 4. The Takedown - 3:37 5. Awakening - 4:24 6. Be the Young - 3:56 7. Back Home - 3:55 8. The Sound of You and Me - 4:36 9. Cut Me, Mick - 3:34 11. Rough Landing, Holly - 3:33 12. Lift a Sail - 3:55 13. Holly Wood Died - 4:39 I love Three Flights Up, but think Convocation is a more beautiful musical piece and leading right into Breathing sounds pretty good. I know OA was left off, but I think the other songs on here stand above it. If this were a greatest hits instead it would have all their singles.
Yikes, I re read this (replied and posted quickly while watching tv with the wife) and I do come off as an ass. Super sorry again man. Their opening and closers are all amazing though lol, it'd be easy to put them all in there. The 50 min limit leaves a lot of great stuff off be default so it was hard.
Here it is. The perfectly flowing 50 min YC LP which ties in most of their musical arcs and themes. Three Flights Up Cut Me, Mick Miles Apart With You Around Shrink The World Keeper The Hurt is Gone Empty Street Fragile and Dear Sure Thing Falling City of Devils Be The Young Southern Air Connecting to the iTunes Store.
You got 50 minutes and you included City of Devils? My bad, that didn't come off very well. That's one of their worst songs though imo.
Rest In Peace Keeper Sleep in the Snow A Place We Set Afire Afraid Telescope Lift a Sail Rivertown Blues MSK Savior's Robes Cut Me, Mick The Sound of You and Me There it is.
I didn't even think about including My Mountain, it's a fine song but imo Savior's Robes is a much better version (sonically speaking).
I wouldn't include it either but I was trying to think of a song that is closest sonically to Savior's Robes. I feel the opposite haha. That's one of the few songs off s/t I'm not too fond of.
Did you listen to the songs in order? The reason I put them together is so they flow well and include all pieces of their work. Bet you didn't ;) Also, city of devils rules.
Had some time to procrastinate between classes so this would be my take on the Perfect LP Awakening Ocean Avenue Got Yours Date Line (I am Gone) Waiting Game You and Me and One Spotlight Illuminate With You Around Rivertown Blues A Place We Set Afire Lift A Sail Be the Young Southern Air
Damn, this was tough. I've settled on, temporarily: 1. Convocation 2. Believe 3. Rough Landing, Holly 4. Empty Street 5. Cut Me, Mick 6. Got Yours 7. Always Summer 8. With You Around 9. Ocean Avenue 10. Sing for Me 11. Lift a Sail 12. Southern Air 13. Be The Young 47 minutes of run time. I suppose I could've cut "Convocation" and put another full song in but this works for me. Now to sit here at work and listen to it and miss Yellowcard and be sad about it.
