I decided that I'd only listen to the leak if the weather is stormy today, and of course it's stormy so this works out well
Guys, we get a studio version of Empty Street so soon. I have waited seven years for this. Beyond stoked
Don't do it. Friday will come soon enough. It's only 36 long, painstaking hours. Actually, I'm not sure I can handle this myself.
I can't listen to this till tomorrow or Friday in respect of the band and how much they mean to me. I did listen to the podcast, but in each of your opinions, what past album does each song pull inspiration from on this record?
this album is very alt rock. Its more in line with something the Foo Fighters would do than say, a pop punk band would do. Theres shades of the darker, PW/L&S vibes in songs like Got Yours and Saviors Robes, but theres also some Southern Air/LaS kind of rock with brighter melodies in songs like What Appears and Empty Street. Then theres some unique YC flair, like A Place We Set Afire and Fields And Fences. I really, really love this album on first impression
I'm not going to drive to my office to access my PC. I'm not going to drive to my office to access my PC. I'm not going to drive to my office to access my PC. I'm not going to drive to my office to access my PC. I'm not going to drive to my office to access my PC. I'm not going to drive to my office to access my PC. I'm not going to drive to my office to access my PC.
The good news is, if I can't restrain myself and do click on the leak, I have 4:18 to realize that I shouldn't be listening to this. I will keep myself from listening to this until Friday. I hope.
Alright did this for Air For Free and liked it, so here's my first impressions of the album. RIP: I love this little extended intro to start off. Already can feel emotions hitting. I do love this song. It's continued to grow for me with more listens. Great way to start off the album. I'm noticing more in the background tracks now too. What Appears: Interesting mix at the start musically. The songs feel big on this album. Really like the guitar solos. Got Yours: LOVE the start. The vocal effect on the bridge was cool. Feel like this about him and his (ex) wife. Like how heavy it feels. A Place We Set Afire: Chorus got to me. I feel like there are some callbacks to older songs like Southern Air and Falling Out. I was surprised it took this long to finally cry but this song got to me. Leave a Light On: I also feel like this is about Ryan's marriage. Violin mixes well with the piano. The Hurt is Gone: First listen of this back in the summer didn't hit me as much but it has grown a lot. I love towards the end when more and more layers join in. It's beautiful. The orchestral end is pretty great. Empty Street: I only listened to the Big If version once or twice. Josh has a great bassline on this. Guitar solo and the backtracks sound awesome together. Wish it wasn't goodbye. Effects on the ending remind me of the start of Illuminate. I'm A Wrecking Ball: Little country feeling to it. Wasn't as into this as the others so far. Savior's Robes: Another heavy sounding song! Feel like the song is a mix of being about his wife and how the fans reacted to Lift a Sail. The halfway mark took me by surprise. Another great bass part by Josh. This would be fun live. Fields & Fences: Oh boy here we go. This hurts. A lot. Full band coming in was epic. This is the end. :( The end was beautiful. Goodbye Yellowcard. I don't even know what else to say. I'm just sad. Yellowcard has meant so much to me and this is it. I need more listens with this but I liked what I heard so far.
