I just have a great feeling about this album. I dont know what it is, but I've got a lot of expectations for it and the two new songs have met those expectations and even surpassed them. I love this band. I'm going to miss them so much. Jason had a really great post in the supporters forum about the bands career and how their catalog will stand the test of time, and I totally agree.
I keep forgetting that they're coming to Philly in November. Might make it out there for this band. I feel like I have to
I'm just buttering up your Supporter finances to get in on that JEW and Brand New early listening goodness. I have ulterior motives.
But yes, there's a good first listen thread in the supporter's forum about the album. I'll write more soon about it.
yep great discussion and a great atmosphere in that thread and that forum in general, I highly highly recommend getting supporter status for it. Lights & Sounds is such an underrated gem. Waiting Game, Lights and Sounds, Hollywood Died, Rough Landing Holly, City of Devils, all great YC songs imo.
Revisiting it has made me enjoy it more, although it's even more apparent that Ryan falls flat on a lot of parts
Lights and Sounds just released at a pretty pivotal point in my life, so it stands so highly for me because I associate it so vividly with those experiences. I can't look at it objectively.
Yeah, see, that's just the thing I can't get over about it. I would concede that some of those songs are good, but they just don't sound good to me. I know that some people don't have a problem with his vocals on that record and think they suit the style of the songs and the "darker" sound, but they usually just make me want to listen to the Yellowcard albums where he sounds better.
Yeah I totally get that. For me it works but I'm also a TBS fan so I can overlook vocals a lot. Jason made the comparison of SA being their Futures and I totally agree. The band firing on all cylinders
I definitely agree with that comparison. Paper Walls is sort of the Clarity in that it's more complex and sprawling, while Southern Air is more refined and concise. I'll be very curious to see if this last album can top it for me.
i know this album will be good. My rankings 1. Paper Walls 2. Southern Air 3. WYTTSY 4. Ocean Avenue 5. Lift the Sails Lift the sails is still a very good album
