I am selling my 2 balcony GA tix for the NoVo this Friday (Ocean Avenue + hits show) if anyone has any interest, hit me up. Balcony is sold out thru AXS and you can get a way better view than the floor if you can't get in the pit, i've found.
I was surprised Sunshine sold out, I think a lot of people came from out of town for the show due to it being one of the last. Ryan mentioned when the show was originally suppose to happen the show had sold half of the tickets. I loved that for their intro to the set they had a message of "get off your phone and enjoy the show".
Agreed. That message was awesome and I think it actually helped a lot with that issue. Ryan always sounds so damn good live.
I saw Yellowcard three times before the last Santa Ana show and that was always something Ryan requested before their set. I always loved them for that
People from out if town was probably a huge factor. I drove down from Colorado and I had talked to others from Colorado and Florida that made the trip too
what wouldn't I give to hear space travel or the deepest well haha wish they would cut all the OA songs tonight and just play a bunch more stuff from lift a sail tbh, will never forgive myself for missing the LaS tour I'm v excited and sad for tonight
It's been four months since I saw their two final Chicago shows. I don't think this will hit me until another 6 months or so when they don't announce another tour.
I've seen this band something like 20-30 times since 2011 and spent my entire teenage years listening to them, tonight meant a lot
the highlights of the set were Lift a Sail & Illuminate and I'm so so so glad I got to hear those songs also the number of under 21 wristbands I saw in the crowd made me rly happy
cross-posting from band thread this is (was) one of the few bands i've followed consistently for nearly the entire time i've been listening to music, the rest broke up or caused me to lose interest idk if this is the right place to do this but lights & sounds helped me get through one of the rougher years of my life and was formative in how i coped with mental illness back then. i remember first picking up a guitar in the tail end of 2010 and learning to play parts of space travel and how i go and stuff (sadly, i didn't really continue playing guitar consistently until ~2014). i obvs also really really loved paper walls and ocean avenue and i feel lucky that i got to dive into those three records around the same time at such a young age. this was like the second or third band that i grew to really really love and like eventually know every word of every song from, and it was around the time that they came back in 2011 that i got into them, so i got to grow up with them the second time around through all the post-reunion releases and all the times they came here on tour. lift a sail imo is the most interesting record from their second run and i wish it had resonated more deeply with their audience - can't help but feel like its lack of success contributed to the band's end. that being said, they went out in the best way possible and getting to see them as many times as i did was rly extraordinary. sorry for lack of cohesiveness, i'm kinda tired and very concussed from tonight's show, but yeah, rip yc, will always bump the records 4ever and ever PS. i'm sorry to turn this into a shameless self promo thing, but i covered "how i go" on this comp back last year, and really wanted to post it here
Lights and Sounds was also an important album for me in '06. I can relate to that 100%. That's why it's my favorite Yellowcard album. Nothing touches it for me.
Yellowcard play memorable final show in Anaheim - News - Alternative Press Before closing the night with "Ocean Avenue" singer Ryan Key made a heartfelt speech to the sold-out crowd: "Each and every one of you deserves a personal thank you from us. I wish we had time to do that but you know how much we love you and you know how much we're going to miss you. From all of us here, from anyone who's ever been a part of this band, worked for this band, behind this band, we are all so grateful to you for your love and support. It is now time that we say thank you for almost two decades of rock and roll. We're going to say goodbye to you tonight here in Anaheim, California for the very last time."
there was bad blood, obviously they don't want anything to do with each other a brief thanks of all the old members would be nice but they aren't obligated especially if they don't like each other
With my wild mood swings between functionality and anxiety, I've been trying to do a lot more lately to remind myself of how many things I have to be grateful for. The first time I ever saw Yellowcard was almost eighteen months ago - on their winter tour with NFG. And in those eighteen months, I got to see them another five times. I saw them twice on the first leg of their farewell tour - once playing Ocean Avenue in Los Angeles, and then the next night in Ventura. I got to see them play "Gifts and Curses" - the first Yellowcard song I ever heard - twice. I was perfectly happy with that... and then they announced their two final shows, and I got to do it all over again. I apologize if this comes across as 'Humble Bragging,' I wish I knew a more foolproof way of writing this. But I'm trying to appreciate that in spite of how crazy things are, that right here and now I am lucky enough to be living in this part of the world and to have the opportunity and access to these kinds of experiences. That a high school freshman who listened to "View from Heaven" over and over again on the opposite side of the planet got to be there for that band's final show. It's.... hard to put into words. Thank you, Yellowcard. For everything.
