My hot take w/Yellowcard is that "City Of Devils" is one of their best songs. Saw them do it live in 06 and the crowd energy DIED completely but was still awesome to hear.
The bridge alone ("What if I wanted you here right now? Would you fall in the fire burn me down") is worth the price of admission.
Lift a Sail is great fucking album. Most of the YC discography is. except of self titled.I don’t think I listened it more than twice and never had urge to come back to it. EP was phenomenal comeback.Give me more songs like Childhood Eyes. I love this band no matter what.
One of the few bands where I love almost every album. Even the ones I don’t love I like a good majority.
My top 10 in no order: Way Away Only One The Takedown Light Up The Sky Gifts and Curses You and Me and One Spotlight Bombers With You Around Sleep In The Snow Lift A Sail
My unpopular opinion where I know I should just keep my mouth shut: the only songs I actively dislike: - two weeks from twenty - dear Bobbie (don’t do the voice)
I used to not like Two Weeks From Twenty, but that one has grown on me so much, it has a weird charm that I love. Also it's quite a sad song, even with the righteous anti-war sentiment
I'd love to be able to dig up the original impressions this site had for Lights & Sounds. If memory serves correct, a lot of people were NOT feeling it.
Lights & Sounds definitely grew on me a lot, mostly in the past 2-3 years. Still far and away the worst of their 2003-and-on albums.
Lights and Sounds is easily in the top 3-4 Yellowcard records for me. It had such a huge influence on me personally and was a major part of the soundtrack to my youth after it came out. The four song run of Waiting Game —> Martin Sheen or JFK —> Space Travel —> Grey might be one of the best runs in their discography in my opinion (and I realize i’m in the minority on this, but it is what it is).
