Possibly. I can’t recall. But that would make sense since I’m sure he talked about that album with Travis. will do. Haha They use Spotify listens to help pick songs for their set lists. So, if you really want a song played, put it on repeat haha
I saw Nick Long on the writing credits and was curious how involved he was yesterday. I almost asked in the band thread, but decided not to. And I have my answer now haha he is how they connected with Travis. The band was toying with doing an album still and WRK told the band he writes EDM now, not rock songs, so he was honest to say he might need help. Mendez played with Nick Long in a band called Staring Back back in the day. Yellowcard even played a show with them before WRK joined. Mendez brings in Nick and they set up some time to write together. Apparently, Nick told Travis about it and he wanted to be in their session. After two days and two songs done, Travis said he wanted to do a full album with them and it just went from there. WRK knew they couldn’t do another Ocean Avenue as they weren’t 23 anymore, but when Travis freaking Barker is feeling it and wants to do an album with you, you feel 23 again haha Sounds like there are a lot of songs that didn’t make the record as this is the most songs they’ve written for an album. Didn’t mention any details on if any of the cut songs would ever appear, but I think makes a deluxe more likely.
nice tidbit: at the very beginning, @williamryankey bravely commits and holds his hand out for almost a full :10 seconds waiting for the server to hand him his cocktail. 0:39 - 0:48
"Gifts and Curses" is so good. They probably thought, "We fucking nailed it; no way this isn't going to be the main end credits theme for Spider-Man 2." And then Chris Carrabba writes fucking "Vindicated." Tough break.
Both songs rip, Honestly I being the slightly better of the two Backed, Bombers is legit one of my favorite Yellowcard songs and so is Gifts and Curses
Gifts and Curses is definitely a top 5 YC song for me. I kinda feel like Sure Thing Falling was born out of that song too.
was stoked for the record when I heard better days.....but then honestly i came on and I got fucking stoked for the record. can't wait.
Honestly I gets better with every listen. The way the chorus changes tempo for "I never felt so alive" works so so well with the positivity of that line.
